Hoping for nice weather this weekend, not sure where the hurricane is right now. It was drizzling when I got home from work, so I didn't go anywhere tonight.

BTW- I drove it 5 or 6 miles yesterday, the seat was nice and warm after about 10 minutes. $60 well spent, I think. Especially for an open car.

I think taco bell has the dollar menu still...... could have been a cheaper option maybe?Big_kid wrote:.... the seat was nice and warm after about 10 minutes. $60 well spent, I think. .....

This was less painful and avoids having to make sudden roadside stops. Robin might want to ride with me once in a while too.
(never was a big TB fan)
Trying to avoid skidmarks with the buggy. (tires are expensive)

Well, I missed Manx on the Banx, but I wound up on a plane instead. The in flight TV started showing "Counting Cars", an episode featuring a green buggy. What are the odds, right? Then the following episode they redo a white one.
Rub it in, why don't they?
Edit: autocorrect on a plane typos.

$2600 didn't seem like a bad price either. Were I looking, I'd have bought it too.

Been a while since I've updated anything, so...
Got an invite for a small buggy G2G in the dunes the day before the parade, so I had to do something with the exhaust. Dual cannons wasn't my first choice, but it's what the Bug House had on the shelf, so I went with it. I regained my ground clearance, all is good. Robin and I towed it down for the non-event, and my buddies there brought us to a spot after swearing us to secrecy about it's location. Not to worry, I couldn't find it again if I had to. That entire area looks the same to me.
Mine, Vince's, Mark's, and Scott's buggies on the beach in front of a shipwreck in Corolla

Robin had to work Sunday, but I still drove in the parade. My buddy's grandson handled throwing candy for me. It was COLD out there, it even snowed for a bit, but we all toughed it out. The sun finally came out right at the end of the parade.

Big_kid wrote:The hardest part is the constant interruptions. Robin works weekends, so I've got the kids. Combine that with every other kid in the neighborhood wanting to "help" it's a wonder I get anything done. Between my kids' "She's breathing on me" and the rest of them asking What's this do? How does that work? Are you gonna put a tail light on the other side too? How are the pool chemicals?" etc. they're gonna drive me nuts. You know what though? Given the chance to stop all the questions, I wouldn't. They're learning (hopefully) and I have no morning cleanup the day after Halloween.
I was going back looking for old pics for a build book for this week's Manx on the Banx when I saw this. How are you doing with this these days? I think Liam was a little guy and only child at the time.Raj wrote:this is awesome.... lolBig_kid wrote: "She's breathing on me"

The buggy is still running, somehow. It marks it territory aggressively, but it has a roll cage now. There's scrapes and chips in the paint here and there, but they're MY chips and scrapes with my stories attached this time. We went to Manx on the Banx again this year and as always, had a blast. I've been past the Wright Brothers' Memorial probably 500 times, but never stopped until recently. I didn't notice until we were on top of Penny's Hill, but the right tag mount had let loose.
51 buggies at the show and shine before the beach cruise, 40 on top of Penny's Hill.

No Manx Club event is complete without the man himself:

October 2020 will be the 10th anniversary, it's an absolute BLAST! Join the club, rent a buggy from Island Cruisers if you don't have one tucked away somewhere. There's 2 other rental companies nearby, but Eric and Val are club members, supporters, and quite often hold an open house/seminar/garage space get together at their place. This year the road washed out and left them isolated from us for a good part of the event. They're buggy people that rent buggies.
It's a family friendly event, you'd all love it.

The highlight of the week was the club having permission to drive up Penny's Hill (private property, permission is NEVER granted) for a photo op with Bruce and 39 other buggies (there were 51 at the show and shine).

It's been a few years since my last post. I forgot my password, my account was locked, health issues, covid, Venus was in Gatorade, etc. Anyway, I finally mentioned to Mike that I was locked out and shortly thereafter I'm back.
The buggy now runs better than ever, I finally installed the dual carb kit I had on the bench for 2 years. Just before that was a valve adjustment and new electronic distriutor/coil/plugs/wires. An oil change and taking care of loose threads on the drain plate studs, it's like a new buggy.
There was no official MOTB last year and I was getting over a prolonged illness so I didn't make it to the non-event, the cancelled parade (or it's non-event), or Bruce Meyers' memorial. I did make it to the parade event this year, but didn't take a lot of pics. I was too busy having some much needed fun.
