DVG is now part of the VVWCA

DVG is now part of the VVWCA

As some of you might know, i've been the regional representative for the Vintage Volkswagen Club of America for about 5 years now. Well there's been a change at the top of the VVWCA and with the formation of the DVG the Long Island VW scene has been re-energized. With that I am pleased to announce that Das Volks Vintage Volkswagen Gruppe has been designated:

the Long Island Chapter of the Vintage Volkswagen Club of America.

What this means is that we are now part of a much larger nationwide group of VW enthusiasts. DVG members can now join the VVWCA at a reduce membership rate which entitles them to everything the VVWCA has to offer including a newsletter and discounts. It also means that the DVG can use the VVWCA's liability insurance for when we have our own show (more to come about this). Also the VVWCA will supply us with goodie bags and access to vendor handouts.

The VVWCA also takes a national role in supporting our hobby and fighting legislation that can be detrimental.

I encourage all DVG members to join the VVWCA and I'll a have specially printed application available at meetings.

So if you weren't excited before, you better be now. This is going to be the BEST season ever.

We now have a DVG Club page on the VVWCA's website.

My oh my... how far we have come in such little time. It really great to see this organization rise above, and take the LI VW scene by storm. I'm proud to be a member of this wonderful gruppe.

This is great and could only help to grow our club even bigger that it has already gotten in such a short time.

Come to a meeting and fill out an application. Normal membership is $24 but since we're a chapter, membership is $18.

I've been a member since 1980.

There would of been a Long Island Chapter a few years ago but my offer fell on deaf ears (as did all my suggestions). When I asked Mike about hooking up DVG... he said DO IT.

So it was DONE.

No need to post names, membership in the VVWCA is not required. Everyone knows if their a member or not.

If you're not going to be at a meeting and want to join, send me a email (glenn@glenn-ring.com) and I can fill out the paperwork and arrange payment.

If you send it in yourself they will charge you $24. If I send it in, it's $18.

What a great idea. The insurance for a future show is well worth the cost of a membership! I'am in. Glenn thanks for looking out for the financial well being of the club. Not having to come up with insurance for a show is a big +

Ed, I ran the NEVA show for 15 years. I know all the ins and out to making a show successful. And to this day I still get asked about it, so starting up will be easy once the plans are finalized.
