1977 Westfalia

Post by MrBreeze »

Figures.

Four days before the show and my bus suddenly refuses to start. Cranks, I can hear the fuel pump, but no start. I am gonna be mega pissed if I don't have a bus for this show.

I guess Thursday night I have to run through everything. Should be a blast considering I have a root canal at 4 :-)

So I spend 2 days and get nowhere. Glenn places his hands upon it and 5 minutes later it fires up.

I am humbled.

Now I gotta spend tomorrow cleaning the camper......I ripped the whole thing apart looking for my spare coil. 9 years of collected crap. Found a few distributor caps, some spark plugs, wires, a freaking STARTER, and a lot of old car show garbage.

On the plus side, I found the step pad and taillights I thought I had lost :-)

Probably get better gas mileage now

Got home early today and decided to fire the old girl up. Nothing. Dead.

Ok, why not? Let's try and jump start it. Let it sit for 10 minutes.....barely cranks.

Ok, wanna be a bitch? I'm done with you until it warms up outside :-) A week and a half out of surgery I shouldn't even be sitting in the damn thing let alone screwing with it.

Snow all you want.

Double hernia last week. Of course since it's me there were "complications" and they ended up having to slice me open at the belt line. Feel a lot better this week, recovery hasn't been too bad.

Died on the Hutchinson. Had it towed to Tony thanks to help from Mr Ring. Cranks but won't start, not getting any spark.

Fun times

And the hits keep on coming. Around the corner from the show the axle comes out. Luckily one bolt remained and I got it to the show. Jon [Hazetguy] got ahold of more bolts and it's good to go now.
Of course all of the going under the bus has destroyed my back for the weekend. Hopefully resting at my mom's will help for the bound brook show on the way home tomorrow.

This is one of the things I am OCD about, I check those bolts every couple of months and will torque them to spec before I take any long trip.

And I am going upstate in a couple of weeks so I am puchasing a spare coil. ;)

No clue. Just a thud and it wouldn't move. After this trip I'm definitely throwing it up on ramps and taking a look around this weekend
