Yeah, it's a hell of a lot smoother, quieter and has a little more pep to it.

It was 25% down on power but 3 cylinders and add 1 is a 33% increase.

Didn't you learn the "new math" back in the 70s?

Yup, that was me. Was heading to Philippine's Best so the wife could get some food she likes. It ran great today, was so nice to be driving it around.

Went to go out today and noticed a few drops of oil on the ground. Stopped by Tony and we discovered the valve cover gasket was deformed. Again. Must be something with the valve cover, it's the only thing not new there. Slapped a little bead of silicone on a new gasket and good as new. I'll order a new cover for next time. While it was up on the lift we looked at the clicking sound I've been hearing. Boots on both rear axles are shot, so I told him to order new axles and boots and we'll get that taken care of.

All in all it's been running really well, about 300 miles in so far. Heading to the CJVW Air Raid tomorrow,

Strange.

A few weeks ago on the way back from camping, my brake pedal went about 3/4 to the floor for the whole ride home. Turns out the master was leaking, so replaced it and everything was great.

Today I was on my way back from Bayshore and the pedal again went 3/4 down. Stopped at a store, went in for a little bit, came out. Started it up and the pedal has been working just fine since.

Taking it to NJ tomorrow so we'll se what happens. Just weird that it went down and then came back up like nothing had happened.

Any guesses?

similar happen to me that "bar" that goes across the shoes in rear had come loose,

kept driving on (was in riverhead when it happened) by the time i got home the bar had flopped loose and got chewed up

got a new arm put on the shoe, replaced the spring that attached to that "bar"... been goood since

Neg. there's a T fitting off the manifold. They're shitty rubber and by now most are cracking and splitting. I'll bet that's part of your issue. There is a plastic tube that comes up from the booster through the drivers side firewall to a pressure check/one way valve, then goes into the T. The other end of the T goes up to the deceleration valve.

Just got new seat stand mats that attach in the front of the front seats. Anyone know how they stay there? Glue?

Oh yeah, about the brake pedal thing.

Current theory is an air bubble. Happened again this past weekend and after I pumped them a few times, pressure came back and stayed back again. Tony's "bleeding the shit out of them" and we'll see how that goes.

on the brake issue i agree with bman on the bar or some other mechanical piece flopping around. air in the system doesnt come and go like that

Remove the seats, and the old matts. Use a degreaser to remove any loose glue or pieces of the foam from the old matts. Around the door jamb, following the contour of the wheel arch there is a pinch seam. Open it up gently with a flat head - don't over do it. Dry fit or once so you know where to trim (yes, you will need to trim) then use 3M Super 77 spray adhesive on the underside of the rubber matts as well as on the seat stands. Then lay them into place. Slip the rubber lip into the pinch seam and use a rubber mallet to hammer it in place.
Realize that the matts aren't meant for a camper with the swivel so you will have to cut some decent material away on the passenger side to get it to fit. I just did mine a few weeks ago. They were sitting in a box for months.

Ding ding, we have a winner! Rear brakes it is/was. While it's in I'm changing to an electronic ignition, maybe that will stop my intermittent pause problem.

Should be all set for Flanders.

Well, all new rear brakes and finally put in the pertronix that has been sitting on Tony's shelf for a few years. Brakes are good and it certainly seems peppier now.

We'll see how it behaves this weekend.
