Re: Home away from Home, on wheels.
I had used dry-erase contact paper over the old ceiling (undersized of top bunk) it's a project Philly Rob and I have teased about for years and I was excited to be the first one to try it. But he contact paper didn't like the heat and bubbled up so I pulled the head banger down today and put some more PVC up there. Looks great - way better than the dry erase to be honest.

Mike,
Where is you get the PVC boards? It looks nice and clean and easy to work with.

Re: Home away from Home, on wheels.
Adding to the list of things that just didn't get hooked back up right...
Looking in my bus, trying to understand why the spare battery won't change. I have the starting battery (obviously) and the coach battery under the rear bench. There is a relay alongside the bench - and not too accessible of course. I put my bolt meter across the terminals and have a steady 4.3+/- volts with absolutely no change when the bus is running.
Of the wires there is a yellow (roughly 10g) wire which goes from the + terminal of the starting battery back to the relay. There is a standard battery cable going from the relay to the coach battery - the battery also has a ground strap going to a bolt on the wheel well. Then there is a black wire going from the relay to the engine compartment - which is no connected to anything. I'm sure it was before the new engine went in though - as the second battery worked back then!
Any idea where this wire might go to?

Re: Home away from Home, on wheels.
Was cruising through NYC yesterday and the muffler slid out of the CAT delete pipe and was hanging down through the Mid Town Tunnel... Besides my sounding like a racecar, it wasn't a cool experience. I was worried the muffler had fallen off altogether but couldn't see it behind me. There is a slip fit joint there, with a flange, where a donut ring creates a seal and a clamp binds the two together. The clamp is good, and I presume the issue occured because I recently replaced my muffler strap which was loose/bent after the engine work this past winter.
That all aside, the donut is trashed and I still have a decent exhaust leak (and subsequent loud noise)
Since I had a hard enough time finding the clamp, I assume noone will sell just a donut - if I was even able to find one.
Can I make a ring from epoxy putty, like a JB Weld putty? Or should I just cut and weld the CAT delete to the muffler?

Cut and weld. JB Weld would probably work temporarily. Stop by Master weld.
Still Monkeying Around. Not afraid to tell you how I really feel.

epoxy will only last a day or so. I did it once when I was on the road and had a small hole from tapping a boulder off roading on the beach in Montauk. you should be able to find the donut online find out what size you need. it's a slip joint so it's designed to flex not be welded solid.

Re: Home away from Home, on wheels.
The new owners in south of France keep in touch. We talk frequently, as they seem to be having some of the same issues with the ignition/burning of points and idle wandering issues that I had
It's both exciting and a bit sad to see "my" bus off exploring places - without me.
But these were some photos they sent over today.
Pretty cool views for sure.
