December 4 Christmas parade - BACK ON

Postby EDNCAROL » Sun Nov 28, 2021 2:47 pm

Ed’s original post is below. But, the most current information is pasted above as of 11/28 at 8:30pm.

ObnoxiousBlue wrote:Folks, after talking it over with Ed, Carol, and interested parties - we are going to go ahead and attend the Islip Parade.
Ed and Carol rightfully have some higher level concerns and want to do everything they can to insure that they stay healthy for the holiday season and their family.
That said, there were a number of people who did still express interest in attending the parade - which is still taking place.
With Ed’s blessing, I spoke with the parade organizer today and confirmed that our position is still secured in the parade.
Likewise, we will still go bowling following.
As of this moment, the luncheon is up in the air. Please be attentive to this thread over the next day as I await a return call from Hometown Cafe to see if they can/will still host a small group of us just to fuel up before the parade.
If not, we’ll grab some grub while bowling at the East Islip Lanes to follow.

I will post up where we will be meeting as soon as the organizers finalize the parade line up by mid-week.

Thanks to Ed, and Christmas Carol and everyone who still wants to participate.

Sorry folks but due to this new Covid strain we really have no choice but to cancel the event.
Believe me No one is more upset about this then we are..But this is the new (NORMAL)
Toys can be dropped off at Home town cafe or at John Theissen Children's Foundation.

Disappointed this has been cancelled as I was hooping to see y'all before I head south. I will be leaving NY in early January.

The bug was sold in August and the bus got a new owner this weekend. First time in 13 years there is not a VW on my driveway!!

I want to say thank you for all the support, time, assistance and encouragement you shared with me over the past years as i navigated my way through air cooled ownership. It has been a memorable chapter of my life.

I hope you all stay safe and healthy. Good wishes your holidays are filled with family, friends and happy moments and the New Year greets you with peace and joy!!

Thanks for including me on this ride!!
Audrey :P

Another crap year down the toilet for me.

Deb and i have been very careful do to the grandkids not able to be vaccinated. In fact 2 kids in Noa's class tested positive last week and a 3rd over the weekend. Her school is closed for a week so Deb and I will be doing some extended babysitting so Toby and Jamie can go to work while the kids school is closed.

Honestly I wasn't planning on attending the lunch since we still are not eating out. Today we wend to the wedding venue for a "tasting" and there were 8 other families. Even with there 50 people in a room that holds 200, we were the only ones wearing masks. i was planning on stopping by to drop off my 2 Hess trucks, but I can easily stop by Wantagh and drop them there.

Getting our boosters in 10 days and just hope things get much better for the wedding at the end of March.

There's just too many people acting like it's over... it's not.

Hope you all have a great time and please... be safe.

We will attend the parade and lunch if it happens. We are both fully vaccinated and have received our boosters, we are going on a cruise in January so this actually a small group !

My knee is jacked up so I won't be bowling .

I respect everyones decision either way .

Hope to see a good turnout, looking forward to it !

Good morning everyone.

Now that the details are coming together we’re going to lock a few things down.
Our traditional lunch will again take place beginning at 12:30pm at the Hometown Cafe, 104 E. Main Street, E. Islip.
Christmas Carol and Ed will be joining us for their famous raffles. Please bring a new unwrapped toy to contribute to the John Theissen Foundation, don’t forget a few bucks for raffle tickets and your appetite.

We’re still awaiting our line-up location for the parade, but it will be shared as soon as they finish the line up. In the wake of the parade events out west, SCPD is throttling the size of the parade and currently we have positions for 10 cars. That means, if you are definitely joining us I would appreciate a confirmation of some sort (be it here or a text). Also, if you are joining us for the parade I am going to ask that you meet us at Hometown Cafe, even if you are not coming in or eating. This will allow us to move to the line up as one group because of security and closures you may not be allowed access once we check in.

After the parade, we will go to East Islip Lanes to bowl a bit. We hope you join even if just for some grub and a drink.

More info as it comes. Please confirm with me that you are attending and if you talk to any members who may not see this but you think may want to attend please have them reach out to confirm as well!

If you are coming for the parade I need you to confirm with me.
If you are just coming for the lunch or meeting us for bowling I don't need a "solid" a commitment.

Looking forward to it.

Started getting the car decorations on.

Finishing touches tomorrow I suppose.

We’ll be at the line up a bit early (per the instructions) so if folks need to don their gay apparel and all that shit there’s time for both you and your car to get jolly.
