Back in the saddle again.

Postby Glenn » Sat Feb 15, 2014 1:58 pm

Since my original bicycle topic has aged out and was removed, i'll start another.

After messing my back up a few months ago it was time to get back into the saddle. So I brought the bike down to the basement and started taking short 30 minute warmup rides. It's boring as hell but I have Cycle for Survival in 2 weeks and need to get back into some sort of shape.

Image

I also picked up a new toy, a Garmin computer. Not only does it have GPS but it connects via Bluetooth to my Android smartphone and can retrieve all sorts of info from the web.

Image

This give me or sorts of data including real time weather. It also allows me to download all of it for better review.

You're setup is neat and good luck at the survive run. Glad you exceeded your goal.

The cinder block bookshelf and vinyls caught my eye. Very retro '70's!! :P
Keep working at it and it gets done!!

About the same vintage as my VW. In fact the preamp is tube driven.

Way too nice to be inside today. So I cleaned up the mountain bike and went for a 10 mile ride. The bike must weigh twice as much as my road bike, but it was great to be out in the sunshine.

That is a sweet bike. After the Cycle for Survival you probably won't want it anymore- I would take it off your hands for $150.

I won't be selling it any time soon, but if you want a bike, my son is selling his Ridley for $650. It's a alloy frame with Campy components.

what size is the frame? how tall is your son? im an even 6 with normal leg to torso ratio i guess.

I have been in the market for a good road bike. Thats about my budget. I ride a cyclocross as my commuter/around town bike. its a beater, something i can lock up on the street for a couple hours. I like the thicker tires and brake lever on the cross bar. In recent years I have been doing more road riding, i even do a century ride on occasion. The Ridley looks great, any idea of the weight?

Its a 55/56cm, depends on how you measure it.

I'm 5'11" and it fits just fine.

Not sure of the weight but its amazingly light for a allow frame.

PM me your cell number and i can tell you more about it.

sell my 55 cm Ridley Triton road bike (aluminum frame w/ campy centaur and veloce components).

I over did myself this time. Massapequa to Caumsett State Park to Tobay Beach and home.

80 miles
2100 calories

And a lot of pain.

What type of bike... road, mountain or hybrid? I might have a spare you can try.

Saddles are very personal and what works for someone might not work for you.

BTW... I rode today, Massapequa to Tobay and back this morning at 6:30am. 31 miles round trip at 15.1mph average.

Helped a guy at Cedar Creek fix a flat.
