Loved Ralph. Went to see "Fences" (baseball related play) on Broadway in 1987. Right in front of me and my friend were Ralph and Tim McCarver. Nice guys. God bless.

Re: Sad day for Mets fans
Definitely was saddened by this news. Been a Met fan since i can remember in the mid 80s i was about 10.
After sleeping on it, I think that the passing of Bob Murphy hit me more.
Not sure exactly why but in general I probably listen to more mets games than I watch. Murphs voice on the radio while I am driving, working in the garage or while I was living in Rhode Island was like the backdrop to most of my summers up until his retirement.

I still think of the 3 (Kiner, Murphy, Nelson) as the TV guys. Voices of my youth. I have yet to hear any team better. Vin Scully is great and the 3 they have now are pretty good, but nothing compares for me.
