Although I've been running my white bus with that plug open for 12 years now, and it's never been an issue.

thanks for the info. My chassis is a '74 but the engine is '71 and lots of the tins are donors. could be why I have lots of dead ends!

To ease the hard ride I have with the rear plates maxed, I picked up a pair of the coil over shocks at Terryville to give me a little more wiggle room.

Put them on today and will give them a test run.
Shocks that came with car, the driver side started leaking a soon as the pressure was released. Image

Using the jack for some leverage to get the bolt holes aligned.

New one in place.

Also added in a starter relay for those quick restarts!!

I was not sure how to adjust the settings. Can it be done when they are on the car or do I have to take them off?

You can do it with them on the car... However you need to jack the car up, taking the pressure off making it easier. I would consider hitting them with some WD

Did you see that adjustment tool you don't have? Get read for Plan B

Now that the calipers got a shave, finished up with cleaning the plates and getting the rims painted and polished.

Ground down the caliper to clear the inside of the rim. Have a bit just under 1/8" clearance.

Scrubbed off the surface rust and used some heat paint to cover.

New look for the wonder! The green tape is to protect the lugs when they are tightened. I like the change!

Found this broken connection on the PS along the chassis bottom. Obviously the bug runs without it, any idea what it was it for?

Finishing the rear wheels tomorrow. :P

That's part of the gas fumes systems and runs to the (now removed) charcoal canister in the right rest fender.

Ignore it.

Ride showing some improvement, but am going to try and adjust the setting. One of the shocks I took off was bad so that was not helping the situation.

Time for the lube and some elbow grease!! Going for the top setting!

PLUS THIS...

got my coilover shocks raised two notches on the adjustment. From 4 which they were on, they are now on 2. Was a little tricky trying to get some leverage, but i was determined. Test ride on Ocean Pky felt good. Now the seat belt doens't strangle me on the bumps.

Got the rims finished, but want to do something special so those pics will wait.

Took to cleaning up the underside of the rear decklid. Lots of built up grease and grim. The beauty of the wonder is starting to blossom!!

A bath with Dawn was the answer. If Dubs got washed with Dawn figured it was good for the wonder!
