Re: AoT's White Wonder
Trying to get the front seat back in today. Those plastixc runners for the seat track, how do they get inserted or attached? They do not wrap around the metal slide on the seat base but they fit nicely inside the track. Also there is a tab that looks like it is supposed to catch a notch. They one that is "Y" shaped is that for the slide that runs under the seat cushion? Feels like I'm having a brain freeze. I NEED FOOD!
Thanks
Thanks

The square nylon pieces snap on the rear two legs.

Re: AoT's White Wonder
Figured it out. My seats still have 3 of the 4 metal runners so no need to put on the plastic except I am going to try a fix on the missing runner to stop the seat from wobbling.
Appreciate the feedback GR. Will post the results.

Re: AoT's White Wonder
Well never got to see if the runners were good. Spent most of the afternoon wrestling an alligator (the passenger seat). Having an issue getting the Allen lugs to get threaded to connect the seat bottom and seat back. Got one lug on after andhour but the secoond one is a buster. Can get the end of the lug in but wont catch the thread. Even took it all apart to be sure the threads were clean. With no hinge in place it works fine but once the other hardrware is in place its a tight fit. Back to it tomorrow with better results I hope

Re: AoT's White Wonder
Well I won the alligator wrestling match. Spent another few hours trying to get the allen lugs through the 3 hole hinge. It was an exact fit with no wiggle room. Between being very bulky and having to align both sides simultaneously it was a patience tester.

Plactic "Y" to cover the track runner under the front seat. Slides real smooth!

Top half of metal runner was gone so I modified a plastic one to keep the seat from wobbling.

Finally!! One more to go!!

Supervisor Dubs checking QC!

Took a run down Ocean Pky to give it a charge and got the DS out to get that done. Hope it does't take 6 months!!

If you want, I still have my original driver's seat. You're welcome to borrow it, but be warned its pretty shabby.

Re: AoT's White Wonder
When I put the PS seat back in I took out the DS seat to get it recovered. What took me six months to do last fall took me one afternoon this time. Got the seats recovered and now just trying to get the seats back together. Having the same issues with the lugs. Even posted on the Samba but no one has responded with a trick or easy connect. Got one side locked in and now its back to alligator wrestling!! No front seat = no driving (although I did put a 5 gallon bucket in place to drive it into the garage) and we have some parades coming up that need to be ready for!

Rear seat was soooo much easier!!

Re: AoT's White Wonder
Trying to finish up some work on the Wonder so that I can get started on the bus.
Finally got the roof rack ready to go. Went over it with steel wool to remove some of the surface rust. Got it primed to avoid rusty water landing on the roof and the brackets are freed up and the turnbuckles spinning. Found some straps to use as well to keep it secured.
Rack that Mike generously passed my way

Primed and ready

Used some rubberized paint to coat the support legs

Letting the paint dry and hope this get this on tonight.
Feels good to getting my hands dirty again!!

Re: AoT's White Wonder
Gonna show you my rack......
On the wonder but figures I have a champagne problem..

the brackets claws are somewhat warped and not fitting on easiy, oh SNAP. I am going to see if I can gently tap them over the rails to get them on or maybe a little heat to straighten them out. Really wanted this on for the parade.

Pooh!

Re: AoT's White Wonder
You'll also notice that the side to side rails have a slight dip in them. My baja has a similar rack and had the same issues. To correct the bends I basically put the rack upside down over a few 2x6's. And gently but firmly pushed the bars back into shape. Might require some persuasion for a BFH. On the front side 'feet' they need to go into the gutter. Same deal but use some heat and a big pipe to fit over the feet and downward bar that connects to the foot. Gently pull the bar outward, being careful not to bend the bar it self, rather the joint, where its prob tweaked form storage. This happens often. Keep up the good work!

Next time I'm sure you'll fit it before you paint it all up. Car looks nice and shiney. Is it ready for the season?

Yeah that would have been the way to do it but brain didn't compute that issue.Glenn A wrote:Next time I'm sure you'll fit it before you paint it all up. Car looks nice and shiney. Is it ready for the season?
Thanks, the Wonder needs a wash and a some minor touch ups but liking the way its looking! Have to put back the front floor carpet and get the music back on.
Keep working at it and it gets done!!
