Throttle return spring

Is the one and only located on the carb. My bug was idleing a little higher than usual today. Popped hood in parking lot and pushed it back to normal. Cable looks new, not sure, nothing obvious at pedals to me. Bently shows a brake pedal return spring. Am I right the only one is on carb?
Thanks

Only on the carb
Is there slack in the throttle cable?

No slack. Ive been screwing around with carbs, so I'm guessing I didn't put something back properly. I had my wife push pedal to floor then I held carb full open and tightened up that barrel nut deal. I thought I read somewhere to do it that way.
Should there be slack?

All better now. I tightened it as described by rob and Dave vw.com, also there was a sorta bend right where the transition from cable to rod? Is. I had it upside down. As soon as I loosened barrel clamp it flipped itself to it's natural position.
I'd like to order a spare, anyone venture a length? It's a 1983 Mexican beetle, parts from 67 ish-79 fit. I asked on ts to no avail. I will prob end up pulling it and just measure.
