Can someone translate for me? i'm not too knowledgeable with these old suspension set ups or that a transmission has a different case depending on the electrical system voltage?
its from this ad : http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/ ... id=1710320
"Stock front beam, drop spindles up front
Swing axle kit out back. Welded 1-2 welded 3-4 388 ring and pinion. Freeway flyer. Tranny case is a stong 12v case. Not a 6 volt that has been ground out. Type 3 brakes. "

Re: Translation Please
The front beam is stock, not lowered or narrowed, but it does have dropped spindles which lowered the front.Markus wrote:Can someone translate for me? i'm not too knowledgeable with these old suspension set ups or that a transmission has a different case depending on the electrical system voltage?

Tranny is beefed up with the syncros weld to the gears and a 3.88:1 ring and pinion. Also it has a later case which is stronger.
Must be a Type 1 tranny that they put wider Type 3 rear brakes on.
