Time to replace that old clunker... Part II

Post by Glenn »

Last January I decided to buy a new bicycle even though I needed a new car. So 17 months later the head gasket on the Civic is failing and with 260,000 miles and a number of other issues... it's time for a replacement.

Notice what's in the driveway and what's in the street. LOL! Good luck with it ! Looking forward to seeing the next one in 2058.

What made you pick the Subie? Thought you were a die hard honda lover ( driver wise)

Maybe but i bet by the end of June, i'll have more miles on it than your NB.
Hey... remember this? Notice the car behind it, the car is 12 years old in this picture.

That's because the Civic had no plates, i transferred them to the new car. BTW... Deb said the "new" car should be in the driveway so she's now parking on the street. Somehow I got a feeling i'll be on the losing end of this.

Honda makes a great car but I didn't like the new Civic and the transmissions seem to be a weak point. The Subaru is a solid product, the AWD is really nice and it's very solid... as nice as a Lexus.

BTW... the Civic is gone. I was going to junk it but was told the value of scrap was so low that I might only get $150 for it. You can't donate since the IRS has closed that loophole and you get a receipt for the actual sale or scrap value. So I posted it on Craigslist, detailing the good and bad and mentioning that it might need a head gasket, and got 9 responses in 90 minutes. It sold for $500 and I hope the kid that bought it realizes that he needs to put some work into it.

Actually she's a bit intimidated by it. I have to make her drive it and get used to the radio and transmission.

I already have more miles on it then the VW.

That's kinda cool. It's totally a marketing thing, but still clever.
