2018 Poperty Taxes

Post by Glenn »

I just pre-paid my 2018 taxes since in 2018 you'll only be able to deduct a maximum of $10,000 in property taxes and state income tax. And we all know if you live on Long Island you're way over $10k.

I figure i'll save over $2000 additional on my 2017 1040.

I suggest you do it also.

Read this on that internet thing ...

"I can't speak to the fact that the IRS is going to allow this as a deduction, but the governor made the executive order and to accommodate his order, we came in here, we implemented a plan, and we're going to help the residents as much as we can," Clavin said in an interview with New York ABC station WABC on Tuesday

The IRS's budget has been decreased by over 20% and have lost 20,000 employees since 2010. So unless you get audited, they have no way to determine what you what year your payments are for.

Claim it and let them figure out if it's deductible. I doubt they will deny it... they got better things to do.

In the Town of Oyster Bay, the "General Tax" has been assessed, just the bills were not mailed. The 2nd half of the "School Tax" was assessed in 2017.

You can't pay the 2018-2019 school tax and the town office knows that and won't take payment for it.

I'm good, are you?
