Re: '73/1500

Spring tension on the carb is kinda user specific. I agree there should be enough tension to return the carbs to idle, but some people like to have a lot of tension on the pedal. The tension may cause unneeded stress on the cables, so keep that in mind. Your set up will be some where in the middle ...

Thanks for the tip. My only lingering question is how do you tell when you have too much or not enough tension on the throttle arms? I'm guessing that if it's a little off then the throttle plates won ...

Dan,
That is scary. My Kads ( that i mentioned i'm installing on the 74 thing this weekend if all goes as planned) also has the same linkage. The end used to pop off all the time, and I thought it was simply bc they were worn. I have secured with with zip ties in the past and will do so again until ...

Looking real good....Here is a good suggestion....when you are all done with all of the metal work
invest is a couple cans of GIBBS.... After you are done with the paint process of your project.
Drive to an open field and spray down all the inside panels..every where....this will keep any rust ...

Re: '73/1500

It'd be fun making a weekend of pulling the engine and torquing the studs but like Brown pointed out there's that sheared off looking one that just spins when you try to tighten it which means pulling the head, looking at the case and seeing what's up, and then getting a time-sert and the time-sert ...

Looks great...that is a lot of work you did there...lots of have never given the process a try...Are you going to clean the metal first before you tack weld...
I would use soda to blast the metal clean..also the areas that you are going to tack too...you can treat everything after with etch ...

since keifernet is longer reachable...i would suggest you let ed rebuild your carb...There is a little more to it then just installing gaskets and jets..
it is worth the money...even if you stored the carb without gas and you did not relax the carb pump it will not run well

Looking real good Raj...Are you going to push the metal edges in with a screwdriver and then weld or are you going to use set screws?
Use real thin guage wire...

Looks like a winner to me. The process is a slow one,but at least when you go to spot weld things back together it will move a lot quicker as long as both sheet metal panels are tight against each also you will have less blow out holes...Matt

Glenn
The rubber replacement products today are so sensitive to our environment. They just do not hold up.
I am always spraying down my ball joint boots with silicone to slow down the cracking process.
Your axel boots are a real pain to change. But at least when you are done they won’t leak 
