Friday i prepped the metal that will be behind the heater channel for Por 15. THere was some rust forming in some of these spaces so hopefully this will slow it down. Sunday morning a applied the por 15 and let that dry while i worked on the Corolla. Then i got back to grdining down some welds and fitting he heater channel in preperation for welding it in. THis side is going much faster than the first one.
Busy last week begining hte college search for my duaghter but sat and Sun got some time on the bug. I had prepped everthing for the heater channel to go in but i really had to modify the back of the heater channel to get it to line up with the bolt holes inthe pan. I must have moved it back a good half an inch to get it to line up. Once i got the holes to line up the everylined up pretty nicely. Right off the bat the door closes real well so ia laid down some welds and it's in place. I still need to finish welding it on on the inside and outside but the major portion of that job is over. Next step is to attack all the surface rust inside and then POR 15 whatever i can see and then move on to removing hte paint and then painting the bad boy. I know it is slow but i am making progress.
Last night I did osme more welding of the heater channel and and added a patch on the pas side wheel well. Still some more welding to do but now i can left the body off the chassis again so i can really get to everthing better and finish up all the welding before I get to stripping the paint. here are some progress pics.
Other then the heater channels the body is in decent shape so i've been fixing the fender nuts and some of other body problems. Little by little i've been stripping the paint. Iprobabley need another good day and i'll have all the paintstripped.
