I'ts alive !!!
Muhaaaahaaa!
Simple trace, plug and play.
No exhaust, so she's a tad loud,
Lots of misc. things to adjust Timing carb, choke, Idle, acel return spring (to get the acel cable to work)
Still need to run her through the gears but I think I gave my neighbors enough today.

Great work Dave. Glad to hear it started.
My big fears are starting to dissipate.
Really hoping you get this sucker together for the Duck.
It would make me school-girl-giddy to see this thing rolling under it's own power.

Re: BEN GRIMM 73' WESTY
Were the valves loud? Hydro lifters might take time to pump up after sitting for a long time.

Re: BEN GRIMM 73' WESTY
Glad your luck held out. Nice to hear it's back to life!
Keep working at it and it gets done!!
Re: BEN GRIMM 73' WESTY
It started up like a champ,
Glenn- It was so loud due to the lack of exhaust, honestly I didn't hear the lifters.
I took a video, but it's too large to send and talk about school girl giddy Mike, after I shut it down Gaby and I were laughing..
I have to look tonight and see what the story is with the accel. pedal spring and return spring ect...the pedal/cable isn't right.
I need the exhaust that has been back ordered for a month and I have no eta...then I can run this girl and tune it right.
I also have to bleed the brakes, I don't have a solid pedal,
I don't think she will make the BiG Duck @ 3 weeks away...but you never know..

YUP Bus Depot...it's a $120 there or I can get it @ CIP but they want $200
I guess you can charge the lowest price if it's not in stock...Ha!
I thought it would only be a couple of weeks..but it's been longer than that...

Re: BEN GRIMM 73' WESTY
Have you called to see when they will anticipate shipping?
I'm not a fan, but maybe it's time to look at the EMPI to get yourself on the road.
Or, does CIP1 have it in stock?

Re: BEN GRIMM 73' WESTY
BD gave me a song and dance, they anticipated it last week but then something happened and the parts were recalled
CIP1 has it in stock, but I won't order it from them just on principle of charging 60% more then BD.
The EMPI side car exhaust is still available out of CT, I'm asking or a total cost w/ freight...not the option I wanted but it's an option..

Is it the same part or is it a higher quality? That could account for the difference in the price.

It's the same part, same name....I'll probably buy something I didn't really want, just to be able to get it to run right and not completely piss off my neighbors and get it on the road quicker...

Re: BEN GRIMM 73' WESTY
Do your neighbors mow their lawn or have landscapers take care of their property? Do they have barking dogs? Have they ever renovated their house and you got stuck listening to nail guns, hammers, Mitre saws and such for weeks on end? Everything is give and take. While growing up we had a neighbor that's dog was a more reliable alarm clock then a rooster. But we never said anything. Nor did they ever say anything to us when I made a little noise with a car or project. I would think as long as your not redlining the engine from dawn til dusk your ok.SUMTHING wrote:It's the same part, same name....I'll probably buy something I didn't really want, just to be able to get it to run right and not completely piss off my neighbors and get it on the road quicker...

Get a muffler on it and make sure it's at the duck!
Nice work. It's great to see new life in that bus, I really hope you reached out to Paul and Rita for them to see it too!
