Goodbye Massapequa

Post by MrBreeze »

Well, it looks like we're going to be leaving the lovely town of Massapequa in the near future. I get a green '77 Westy, Mike gets a green '77 Westy. Mike buys a house, well damn, now we're buying a house :-)

Don't know where yet, we just got approved and just started looking, but there should be a house warming VW BBQ at some point this summer!

I'm scared shitless.

The house 3 down from me is for sale.

Hey Rob... if Toby can buy a house, it's about time you build some equity.

Congrats Rob. The process is mind numbing with back and forth nonsense - it's seemingly endless. I hope that you - like me - manage to buy from someone who you hit it off with. When the seller and buyer get along it seems to just make everything go smooth. We spoke almost daily during the whole process and still talk frequently.
I wish the place was coming together a little faster. It's been a lot to deal with painting and such. I'm still not unpacked entirely and am just now getting to mounting my TV. I got 95% of it painted but still need to get to the downstairs bathroom and the laundry/utility room. I'll be having a springtime get together too. All the best.

Just getting started, haven't found anything yet. Probably end up in the West Babylon/Lindenhurst area

It's gonna be a little harder to find a house, we need one with a apartment in it for my Uncle. Kinda limits the choices. We're going to see two in Lindenhurst on Sunday.

Getting closer. Put a few offers in. One was rejected, one I'm at my limit on and the other I'm waiting to hear on. It's exciting yet terrifying at the same time.

It's been a requirement all along. All I want is an apt for my uncle, a garage, and a place to hide. The rest is up to Gemma.

It's funny, the house we initially put an offer on 2 weeks ago called back because the buyer backed out. We've learned enough in the past 2 weeks that we don't want it at that price anymore.

Still waiting on the one we want to accept/reject.

The garage is your place to hide.

Now I'm really scared.

Our offer was accepted. Looks like Hello, Lindenhurst may be in our future.

You should 100% be terrified.
You're just along for the ride... Everyone else is spending your money so just throw caution to the wind because there's almost nothing you can do to control the "process".
It'll be over before you know it.

Funny, i don't hear my son whining about the process.

Just stop thinking about going into debt for the rest of your life.

Always here to help!
I'm happy now, and I'm very happy for Rob and Gemma - but look me in the eye and tell me I'm wrong. lol
It was a relatively stress-free process for me. Once the offer is accepted everything seems to happen really fast. You have the inspection and the appraisal. But then you sit around for weeks while the lawyers and agents push papers around.
Then it gets crazy a few days before closing when you need to start writing big checks in strange dollar values.
My title closet apparently missed something because my mortgage just went up ($300!) because they never put enough money into the escrow account for taxes/insurance. So I had to hand over a chunk (that I didn't really have ready for that) and now have the higher payment until the balance of the escrow is caught up.
The numbers are constantly changing. Even at the table when you're signing you'll see the closer doing calculations and none of it makes sense. Lol
