I think Wednesday, Manny and his son are going to get it with Audrey.
If it gets to Audrey's house, i'll get a date and time to head over and take the intake manifold and shroud off so we can replace the rusted tin and convert to an alternator.
GA, anytime you want I have Plan D waiting to get picked up.

Wow, a couple of days with no DVG and you miss alot!! Survived the onslaught of family and ready to get back to the "Wonder". I called the seller and am planning to p/u the engine on Tuesday. Manny and son offered to stop by Wed to get it out of the truck. I'll post if I'm going on Tuesday so we can plan some dates for tech sessions and a BBQ and brews!
GA this is your invite so you're covered!!

Great.
Looks complete. The only issue will be converting it to a Alt since your car is a 73+. Do you have an alternator?
I think you have fuel lines, and tune up kit from the last etown show.

I don't have the fuel line but it was discussed at etown. Will give it a good dose of PBB tonight to get things loose.

ok.
What was the intent? Clean and repaint, and redo the top end before final install or install and run as is?
I have some length of fuel line if need be. I always keep ' spares'
I look fwd to see you rockin the old vw!

The right side cylinder tin is rotted and needs to be replaced. The shroud has to come off to replace the generator so I figure take the intake off, remove the tin and do some cleaning and paint. Then put it back together and "slam it in".
I also have a "alternator" fuel pump, but for $20 we can put a new one on.

GR,
Any tentative dates yet?
Are you planning on testing it outside the car first or install and tune from there?

is it the one with the outside regulator though? I have both alternator and regulator, but the alternator shaft is bent, ur welcomed to both pieces but the regulator would probobaly the only thing you can use out of the two.

The car us wired for a AL78 alternator and you (Ken) already donated one. Tony sent it out and had it checked... so we're good to go.
The only issues is removing the cylinder tin without snapping the screws. Anyone have a torch they can bring/borrow?

What kind of torch are you looking for? One that you weld with or one that would heat up the metal like when you solder copper pipe? I probably have the latter here.

The later... some heat and PB Blaster can do wonders to loosen stubborn screws.

I'm going to hit it with the PB once it's out of the truck and I'll check on the torch tomorrow and see what i've got and get a new canister of fuel.

It's just the M6 cheesehead screws, so a BernzOmatic should do.

Things are starting to happen.
I stopped by Audrey's and we got the parts off that needed to come off. The right side cylinder tin was rotted and we found a few broken fins and some debris in between the rest. Luckily only 2 bolts snapped and will not be a problem. AoT will start cleaning it up and i'll be heading back to finish the job and bring the needed tins over. Once the tin is painted i'll be heading back again to put it together and hopefully start it up.
