Then I guess we can expect you to come to the next meeting on one of those "rides".

Just got off the phone with Gary Berg (yes that Berg) about some issues i'm having with my Berg 5 speed. Gary said it's possibly the mainshaft bearing and they have an update for it. Also they have a updated breather system which will stop the tranny puking gear lube out the vent when it's been filled.
I need to contact Tim at 401 about making time for the car.
It's been 11 years and 40,000 miles since the last time and it can use a bit of TLC. I'm also thinking of some other changes/updates but i'll have to think about them first.

yeah, and have the flames or scallops go over it when they paint them, I like your thinking Glenn.

I say you park this heap as a roller in NJ and put the drivetrain in the mystery oval that no one has ever seen.
Oh yeah.... i went there!

Sold it years ago.
So who has a trailer that can hold a Beetle? The thought of flat towing my car with no drivetain to Rhode Island is not appealing. I can BLM and rent a truck and trailer from U-Haul or see if I can do it on the cheap and borrow what I need.

OK... so all I need is a tow vehicle. What size ball does it use?

2 inch ball. I can give you my draw hitch ( either of 2) that uses a 2 inch square receiver that already has a 2inch ball on it

Well, I just finished 5 of them and already have 2 sold which makes up for what I paid for them. The rest is gravy.

You have to have the right engine combo. We'll have to get a set of dual carbs for the "wonder" and them the distributor will be worth it.

Didn't do much today other than Toby helping me put the engine on the stand.
After looking it over it seems most of the filth on the engine is actually gear lube and not engine oil. But there are some leaks around the sump and oil pump.

What did you decide about the next course of action? Are you going to tear it down yourself?

In a different Vein, how come you don't want to tow your car with a tow bar and would rather flatbed it?

Not sure. I'm afraid if not finding the definitive cause of the knock and then having a bunch of parts. I'm considering sending it back to Art to go over it and freshen it up.

Ever flat tow a Beetle with no drivetrain? It's like dancing with a drunken sailor.
