Ok, tapped it out, put the stepdown bolt in and it all seems to be working great.

Left it off for an hour and it's working now. I don't have much faith in it, this will be my garage tv, I think. We'll buy a bigger one at some point for the living room over the fireplace.

Well, dang. Alternator is on it's way out. Starting to hear a slight whine from it. I was hoping it was a loose belt, but no such luck. Ordered a new one and I'll put it in before Terryville. Shouldn't be an issue this weekend, it's barely making noise, it just annoys me and I want to stay on top of it. Might as well replace the belt while I'm at it.

Oh yeah, TV pooped the bed the following day. Got me a big ol' 65". I'm thinking probably the last big ticket item for a while!

They tend to crack along the ribs, so you may not see it immediately. Mine was held back together with RTV.
The new boots that they make are garbage. There was a company out there using a rubber/plastic that was similar to original, but less prone to cracking. I believe AirHead Parts had been a distributor for a while, but their site does not list it any longer and I would have to look back for the manufacturer since there are several.

I went with the GeeBee hoses. They'te the "one and done" option if you don't want to fight with it again. Below is an excerpt from my hose issues in my bus' thread.

Ok, not the S-Boot. Took it off completely and while I obviously couldn't run it, I still heard the squeal while cranking it. So I'll smoke the sumbitch this weekend and go from there. If I can't figure it out I'll drive it squeal and all to Flanders and see if the boys can help figure it out. If I can't get it going right soon, I'm probably done for the year, no Salem.

I'm learning the joys of home ownership, especially with 79 and 82 year olds living with me. One of them let the puppy get out the front door and she bolted down the street. Thankfully the mailman grabbed her. So today I ordered the dog gate. Seems every day I'm solving some sort of problem. It could be worse, my little brother got his house a week after mine and he's stuck with $8,000 in mold damage he got screwed over with.

All in all, I'm still digging it.

Well the smoke test didn't show anything. So I guess I'll just drive it as is to Flanders and see if anybody has an idea there.

Does it run any different ? Or is it just a noise issue ?

Well it was running really bad, bucking, practically stalling, but it seems to be running pretty good now. I'm wondering if I had bad gas, it seems ok since I last filled it. I'm not sure if the noise is affecting it, but it sure is annoying as hell.

Looks like the bucking problem is solved. It was the AFM. The track the needle rides on was grooved, so moved it a little to a clean track and now it's running great.

Still has that squeal once in a while that I can't find.

Good news, I got it running today. Pretty sure the battery is hosed, but I can live with that. Took it for a ride and everything seemed good. Gonna clean it up a little if I have time this week and might hit the cars and coffee thing in West Babylon next sunday.
