It really is amazing to look at your motor and to see no rust on the cylinders!! I know right now the wonder of it is a pain in the as_ but after everything is redone to your standards of today...you are going to be a happy camper...Again if you need help...just call me....if you need any parts sprayed..i can also help you...when it a little warmer.. Thanks for the helping hand....also wanted to tell you that I picked up a welded berg cooling fan as well...

Sure are...

When you have a rigid mounted drivetrain, sticky tires, ZF LSD and a dual friction clutch... something has to give.

I'll talk to Gary about what can be done if anything this time around to prevent it.

Just heard from Gary Berg, he says the broken tooth looks like a spider gear. No problem since i'm replacing the differential anyway.

At least you're narrowing down what the issues are, good decision to investigate what was going on.

I'm guessing that would have caused a knocking sound.

The broken part is from the transmission. i have no idea what's causing the knocking in the engine.

I started to make the crates.

Notice the front of the trans is slightly different Aot. That is the Gene Berg 5spd GR is ALWAYS talking about. To be fair I would ALWAYS be talking about mine if I had one.

These are not going anywhere.

Also if you look at the transmission case, you'll notice that there's additional and thicker ribs. It's a Rhino case and much stronger than the stock case. They were made by VW de Brazil. It also has a HD side cover on the driver's side. That along with the Rhino case will prevent the case from cracking below the differential from side cover to side cover and through the drain hole which is a weak point.

I still have to remove the alternator stand and oil cooler. Then build the other 5 sides and they are ready to ship.

Notice that the Berg 5 has a custom intermediate housing and nosecone. 5th gear is in the nosecone

Going by truck.

Yes it's over sized but I have to put a few things in and it's only going to add $20 to ship for the extra space.
