Actualluy I have not taken it to anyone yet!!

There's a guy in Merrick just north of the LIRR station that does them. I've used him and so has Manny. Gene gets all his customer's cars done there.

I took my car to my local mechanic and had the car electronically alligned and had all four wheels balanced and then took it for a ride and it still thump, thump, thumped when going to the left.

When i got home i jacked up the back thinking maybe the CV joint bolts where not tight, nope they were fine, then i figured it must be the wheel bearing on the right side so i grab the wheel and i can noticibly see the brake drum rock back and forth and it turns out the freaking axle nut is not tight!!

i pull out the torgue Miester torque it to 250, check the left side and that one is tight, take it for a ride and rides like a champ.

Lesson learned always check the simple stuff first!!!

Next up i have to take the speedometer apart as it is whining like a baby!!!

it depends how loose it was. And if the 'balancer' even gave a shit to look.

I can't complain becuase i switched from the 8 spoke to the steel rims and i didn't notice!!

I took my speedometer apart today to clean out the old grease to stop the noise. Followed the insturctions from TheSamba and it was pretty easy to do.

i did not remove the needle but they did tell you how.

Yesterday i reinstalled the speedometer and checke the rear right wheel which was make a grinding sound. I found out the inside of the drum had had gotten distorted from driving on it with the loose axle nut so i replaced it with a drum i had in the garage. I took for a test drive and no more msoe fromt he wheels and the speedometer worked great and no squeeling noies. It was actually a fairly easy repair with the hardest part getting it out ofhte car becuase it was truck int he dash.

Last thing left to do is to fix my leaking master cylinder. The rubber plugs int he top of the master cylinder that are connected to the fluid reservoir are leaking. It really pisses me off becuae th eMster Cylinder is less than a year old. Purchased from Mid America. There credability with me is falling like a rock.

I have not put the sway bar back on since i shortend the beam. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I don't think i can cut and weld this, so i would ah ve to buy a shortened one?

I'll tell you what I did about the sway bar in my car, but I'll wait for other responses to trickle in first .

I never reinstalled my sway bar on the 2 inch beam on my 65. It handles like poo without it and on 135s. I'd like to correct the sittitaion one of these days.

I'm sure you know where the scrap yard is Ken. Second when one narrows there front suspension by 3" they are not usually looking for a fine handling automobile.

If you heat it anywhere thats where it will bend under stress.

I fixed my quote up a bit Ken. Not sure If youre aware of the following. A sway bar is treated to a certain hardness just like a coil or leaf spring. If you heat any section of it it will loose its spring effect in that section. there is a tremendous amout of stess on a sway bar. It will more than likely bend or snap at the weld. All kidding aside I would bother with a sway bar.
