Dropped the crates off at Yellow Freight and Forward Air. Thanks to Jim Lynch for helping with the trailer and the heavy lifting.

I cleaned up my axles today and found one of the CV boots torn and the other on the same axle has cracks. Both on the other side are fine. I'm a bit surprised since they are all 5 years old.

Image

Time to clean the CV, replace the boot and repack with grease.
Image

Crappy photo but you can see some of the cracks.

The rubber replacement products today are so sensitive to our environment. They just do not hold up.
I am always spraying down my ball joint boots with silicone to slow down the cracking process.
Your axel boots are a real pain to change. But at least when you are done they won’t leak 

Matt,

I've done them before so I know what i'm in for. The one with the torn boot needs to disassembled and cleaned. The one with the cracked boot, i'm hoping does not need to come off. If that's the case, i'll slide it on from the other side.

I do have 4 NOS CVs if I need them.

I'm going to have the mufflers redone, so the question is, keep them silver or go black?

BTW... I just heard back from Jet Hot and they'll be redoing the muffler for free. So it will remain silver.

Personally, you should go back to pea shooters.

If you think your Jet-Hot exhaust coating isn’t living up to its billing, we’ll coat your part again for free. If it fails in the first year, we’ll re-coat your part and cover the shipping both ways. If the coating fails after a year, ship us the part, and we’ll coat it and ship it back on our dime.

Yep, we stand behind our work.
They sure do.

Updates:

The tranny is almost done. He's waiting on the differential which is waiting for new clutch discs for the ZF.

It's been determined that the knocking sound is inside the case, so it's coming apart.

The car is still in my garage, Tim is having some issues with permits for the new shop.

Some good news...

The discs for the ZF rebuild came in so the ZF should be on it's way to Gary Berg this weekend. Then it just has to get in line so the tranny is finished.

They found the source of the ticking in my engine, it's the wrist pin on #1. Not sure if the rod needs to be replaced, but the case should not have to come apart. I'll know more after I speak to Art.
