I picked up this Hella reflector and bracket for $1 at Litchfield (it has a VW part number on the back I plan on looking up) and thought it might look OK mounted somewhere on the bus, not to mention the fact that it will add visibility...mounted below the license plate was considered, but then I have to address the issue of the bolt and bracket scratching the paint

Would think you'd want it lower and in the drivers field of vision. Hopefully they are not looking skyward. :o

No way to affix it to the license plate frame?

in my opinion, most drivers don't look low...that's why I added the high third brake light, to compensate for the relatively low bus brake lights (compared to most modern cars)...lower part of the bus already has running lights and brake lights; placing additional reflectors up high increases the overall area of night time visibility / reflectivity...it's not really "skyward"; at a distance of 10 feet or so, it's within the normal field of vision

as mentioned, it can be connected to the rear of the license plate frame, but this will require additional steps to prevent the paint from being marred...attaching to the front will obscure the dealer frame and is not a clean enough look

btw, I think it's a '70 type 1 bumper mounted reflector

I'm not really diggin it on the rack, But if you where to put it up there maybe you should consider the left side. If you where on the shoulder of the road that would be the side nearest moving traffic. It would also be the side where faster traffic was passing on the left.

greasing the front end...

arriving soon to replace the '67 tag...

finish lubrication
check and replace transmission fluid with GL4
check steering box fluid and top off
check and adjust brakes
paint muffler and damper
install new fuel lines, filter, and run proper metal line through firewall
change oil in oil bath
change oil
install NOS muffler bracket kit
adjust valves
check timing
check fuel pressure
plan and complete partial removable camper interior (jump seat, table, ?)
correct commercial grey seat covers from matt miller
M502 kombi panels from clara
medium size vintage style awning
rebuild carb
etc.

some of this I'll need assistance with, but I'm doing what I can now...

OK... the hose clamps are too large.

The clamp should not be fully closed. (see the one on the right).

Also copper is not good for fuel line. It get old, hard and brittle and can crack from the vibration.

the fuel line is not copper; it is copper-plated steel...

what is the proper size for the hose clamps?

I "think" the ABA clamps i'm using are #8. But i'm using .250" stainless with 7mm FI hose.

The reason you don't want the clamp partially open is so even pressure is applied 360*.

I've spoken to Ed a number of times. Ed specializes in 25/36/40hp carbs, fuel pumps and distributors.

He does excellent work.
