Rando question: is that a new/smaller gas tank in the trunk or something else?

I think what you are looking at there is the factory one year only 73 thing Gas heater. That bad boy runs off the gas in the tank ( incontinently located only inches away) and fires off a flame inside and forces hot air into the cabin via a internal fan. Good times.

Between AoT's bus and these photos, I'm pretty sure tonight I'm going to have a dream about mice in my car.

I wanted to inspect the pass side inner rocker that had some very oddly positioned soft spots. I made a few test incisions to see what the deal was.

I found what looked like a mouse nest.......

I started pulling out the 'nest'. There was ALOT in there.

.... then i found mickey.

Looks like a fresh one, makes me wonder what's been hiding in the cavities of my bus.

Great metal work, by the way. Didn't realize that car had so many rusty spots!

Funny, I was wondering how he managed to mold his rust spots into the shape of a car!

Too funny!!

Mike, what do you think the time of death is for Mickey, he does look kind of fresh!!

We'll have to perform a full Post to find the proximate cause before we can estimate a time of death. But I would be comfortable saying he was scared to death from the cutting blade!

Mike,I think Mickey has been a long term resident, considering the rot caused from his ' home'. Cause of death may well have been the erratic driving of the vehicle by various club members

Not too often you see a windowless car on the LIE with a giant American flag on it.

Probably not the first mammal to die in a Thing.
