I change mine every 5 years... no need to do something that's not needed. I rather spend time watching my car rust.

BTW... I also use metal filters, plastic is just until the fuel runs clean.

Contrary to what some "other's" have said... I do respect women. After all my mother is one.

Respect has to be earned and Audrey certainly has mine. You should see the job she did cleaning that car up.

Finally what Audrey is too much of a lady to do is gloat. When we first started the engine I put the fuel hose from the car in a dish of gas. The engine would start and then stall. I had to choke off almost all the air to get it to fire but it wouldn't stay running. I figured it was a massive vacuum leak and i'd have to replace the intake manifold gaskets.

Then Audrey walks around the back and notices that the fuel hose fell out of the gas.

She got me good.

You know none of us would have let that go without hammering you about that!! I wonder of that's what was wrong with all of the engines i kept brining over for you to get going!! i never thought to check the gas line!!

After GA switched out some better tires I had on the rims that came with the car, I figured it would be good to get them polished up. Spent Sunday wire wheeliing the metal and then used steel wool and sand paper to get the rest of the rust off. Finished it off with some black satin rusto paint and just need a final spray to hit the creases!

The driver door window does not roll down so today I took off the door panel to what has been lurking behind.
The masonite on the lower edge is damp so there is some water getting in.

The board is shot and the moisture barrier has been cut for speakers.


Nothing here to save but now I can try to see what holding up the window.

Wow.. the railing on my front stoop can use some of your TLC.

Don't worry about door panels. You can get repros from a number of vendors.

Well after the All Air cooled weekend, got that tickle to get some work done. GR had given me a few needed parts last week so why not give it a try.

Connected the 7mm fuel line from the tank to the hard line. (The bug is FI), then reinstalled the fuel tank. Made sure that all the wires and lines were clear and not pinched. Got the hose from the gas fill reconnected and all the clamps are tight. The line next to has a ring that looks like it just get pinched tight so that what I did.







Took off the tires to get a look at the stuck brakes. Went over the rotors with a scotch brite and gave them and and calipers a good squirt of WD and hit the bolts on the inside too. Put on the newly painted wheels and added a little shine. Looking pretty purty!! Just need to get it to roll!





This bug needs a hug!!


Cut and attached the soft hose coming off the shroud, not sure about the clamps. It fits tight so I'll leave them for now.





Had a litltle carnage going on in the yard while I was working. Boo got the goods!

I was just thinking of finishing the fuel system. I'm glad you're ahead of me. Let's get a afternoon to dump some fuel in and fire the engine up. This time we'll let it get hot and change the oil.

Got the passenger side brake loose tonight and was able to get the it moving. Not sure if it was yesterday's WD soaking or just my tremendous upper body strength!

I tried the driver side using the impact wrench and pipe combo but it still won't go. I gave it a blast of PB and will let it sit overnight. Since it seems like it just needs a little tickle to coax it to move, any ideas on what else might shake it up?

samba joes rather large bee- hind sittong on the my ghia's fender while I drove her fwd and back loosend up a stuck drum once.......

if not, smack it with a dead blow hammer a few times..... she'll go. She was just rolling a few months ago.

Aud, how bad are the brakes? Does it need all new hardware at the corners, or is it just catching up on some lost PM?

Looks like the brakes need less work than the bird !

The Calipers have to be removed in the front and checked, cleaned and lubricated with grease at the least..

Last I heard.... the motor runs. The front wheels are unlocked.

GR... did you buy all the parts yet? Or do we still need to go over it to see what needs to be done?
