Used the 'whacker' tool to yank the 36s off the rear drums, since i have studs in the drums for my empi 5's that are threadlocked in.

Raj... the seam on the boot should be at a 45 degree angle to the top. You don't want it at 3:00 or 9:00 cause the up/down motion makes the seam split.

I was reading everywhere that they should be point towards the rear.

Everything I've read says pretty much the same. 12, 6, 3 & 9:00 have too much flex & cause leaks.

Today was a ' me' as I spent the entire on my cars. I had to run some errands this morning, but got cracking at the 65 around noon

Pulled the tranny

i wanted to douche up the engine bay area some, so I degreased it and power washed it. It was in decent shape but a leaky trans left some jizz all over

While the car was drying i focused on the trans by installing the rhino mounts, and cradle, nose mount, ground strap, and mid mount ( in the never ending saga for no wheel hop)

Image

Image

Then i painted the tranny area with some por 15. It was preety much dont from last year's engine install, but i couldnt get to the area close to the trans, so i addressed that while i was in there

I cleaned up some wiring, and got the tranny installed..... finally

Changed the real axle seals, slammed in the starter, and put the brakes back together.

I still need to do some stuff to the motor be fore in stall, like clean it, match the intake gaskets, check out the new bellcrank linkage, install the 'claw', and alt pully. Hopefully driving tommorow evening.

Raj,

Did you add side gussets on the rear frame horns? Why is that necessary?

thats all factory. I was gonna get a little nuts and stiffen up the horns with some gussets and welding, but this car is just a temporary holding place for my motor. Some guys add gussets and stiffen the horns bc the horn do bend under extreme force ( aka... big motor)

Is he talking about that big clean cross bar? because if that's what he's talking about? you dont need very good eyes to notice it.

Raj... do that bolt to the framehorns?

The Berg mount requires tabs to be weld to the frame,

i dunno... i guess the richmeister will have to advise.

If you are asking about the mid mount, rich... its just another mount to help not break the nose cose while doing hole shots or banging gears. It ( along with the berg traction bar, rhino mounts) will hopefully cure my wheel hop issue.

nope... just grabs the four lower tranny bolts and pushes off the horns. Very easy install

while shes out, I'm trying to cross off the laundry list of stuff i wanted to do

The linkage that came with the motor, sucked ass. It flexed all over and was very bindy. I ordered a CSP bellcrank last year, and it hase been waiting for this time to install. Looks like i have some moving around of stuff to do as it should mount where the coil currently sits now.

Claw..... i need something to keep my oil lines away from my header, so i bought the claw. Looks like it mounts over the header flange but may not clear the header flange to pipe weld. More fun. Wheres my grinder?
