I'm working on a beam and am getting ready to put new ball joints on. The old upper ball joint has some device on it that the new one does not have. Does this come off and I reuse it or do i need to get something else?
Old upper ball joint
New upper ball joint (not installed)

That's an eccentric for adjusting the camber. They are reused.

When installing the control arms in the beam I'm assuming i should lubricate them. What should i use?
Thanks

Took the bug to the meeting last night but something was not right, but i could not put my finger on it. I just installed a set of 8 spoke rims on the car and am thinking that might be the problem since I can't find hte acorn nuts that go with them and use the regular lug nuts.
It was making a noise that is hard to describe but was definitly related the speed of that car and seemed to go away when i let off on the gas or turned the wheel slightly.
I will be working on the adjustable beam today so i'm not got to worry much about the noise until that goes back in and hope that solves the problem.
One thing that was nice was the heat worked great. On the way out i had to shut it off and crack a window.

I was able to get the camber adjusters off the upper ball joints using a tie rod end fork. A couple of whacks with the BFM and the popped off.
here's what it looks like on the Ball joint

I borrowed a ball joint removal/installation tool from Glenn and was able to get 3 of the 4 ball joints off. One of them i used heat on the but the other two i was able to press out without heat. One of the BJ i just could not get off so i swung over to see Gene and he pulled out a 3/4" 48 ratchet and was able to crank it out.
Here is the tool in action - It's good to have an extra set of hands to help!
New Ball Joints
Here are the two passenger side ball joints installed.

I needed to install new torsion arm seals and for once i got lucky. I seached through my stock of parts and found a set that i had purchased from WW.

nice Ken. Was doing the BJ's tough work? The front end on the baja is sloppy and I'd like to go over it, including the bj's. Your giving me the motivation.

Looks like the beam Is off the car. I bet working in the garage on a bench makes a bit easier.
Better do those BJs before you end up working out in the cold.

It was not very hard except for the one. The other three came off fairly easy. That is assuming you have the kit from Glenn!!
After removing them I cleaned up the inside of the torsion arms applied some grease and then pressed the new ones right in.
