I don't mind, he's finding solutions to problems for me, now if he could just get me a link to a money tree. Just found out wife's sequoia needs a catalytic converter, between that and the hot water heater I'm sorta tapped this month. But I will grab that distributer as soon as I can.

Didn't think it was worth starting a new thread, just an update. In-between other chores I spent some time on my bug this weekend. Replaced all gas lines, except under tank (I will get that when I replace master cylinder) installed filter over trans, new air filter and checked valves. I then drove it! Woo freaking hoo! First I kept it local, then Sunday I went from east north port to west islip, trouble free I should add. It ran great. I did get my rebuild kit for original carb, and I have the original distributer, along with tools in car. Hope to get to a show or meeting soon. Thanks for ur advice.

You might want to start a "build" thread for your car. Most of us have one for our cars, and it becomes a catch all for projects about your car and limits the piece-meal threads that pop up for various issues on the same car.
Yes, there will be discussion in the head, but they are discussions on upgrades and maintenance issues that you start.
My bus' thread is 30+ pages, but amidst the discussions are how-to and help for others on what I have done. Plus, it becomes a work log for you so when/of the day comes that you sell the car, you know what repairs/upgrades were done and what date they were done.

Could be a 34pict3, mine looks to have the same parts in the same places.

So I emailed the guy, asked what carb, alt or gen fuel pump, dist vac good. This is the answer I get
"Pretty sure its a 34....not sure if its a gen or alt but u will be able to see it as its in my new engine....vac is good. Was on running engine..."

IIRC if you have a generator you can run either pump, but due to the larger alternator diameter you would need the correct pump to have adequate clearance for an alternator. You also need the correct push rod for the pump, the lengths are different.

WhAt carb is that? I've been emailing the guy. He says he spent 5gs on new motor and trans. Switched to 1710? Empi dual carbs. Dosent know what distributer or linkage dosent know if he has generator or alt. I told him I can't get there this week. The heat risers look nicer than mine. And I don't have the vac port on left side of intake , but rear carb one works on my carb for pre heat. He says vac on dist is good. All work done by frank in Hicksville but slow as hell. He tells me.
