It was not meant to be back handed in any way. Not saying Aots work is no good just that white is very forgiving. And that is a plus for a beginer.

No, it's showing!! There are quite a few dimples, but this was a good test run!! I wouldn't learn anything if it was too easy!! And I leanred alot this time out. It doesn't have that baked finish like the rest of the car, but it's smooth and no paint runs.

Got the fender bolted back on and it will be interesting to see how it looks against the color in the daylight. Meg suggested I give the bug a bath. Plan to do that on Wednesday!!





Lights reconnected, but the bulb for the directional does not stay locked it place. so I'll revisit that tomorrow. Need some sunlight!

It needs plates.

Just curious, I picked up that water/washer bottle at Etown and am trying to figure how/where is get mounted. I have those two pins is needs but don't see a specific place to install it.

Also GR, I took the facepeice off the steering/horn and those snaps are in good shape. If it is possible to take the wheel off and replace the black back casing with the newer one it looks like it would work. My steering column is in better shape that the Etown one. Let me know it this is doable.

Sure.. the steering wheel comes off with one loose nut... 27mm or 24mm.

When I had the spare out to vacuum the front end I saw that little setback and was wondering what purpose it served, thanks for the visual, it always makes it easier!!

Wanted to take off the steering wheel/horn today to switch out the front/back plates, but didn't have a socket large enough to go over the nut. But before I even get there, the wire that comes from the up through center to connect to the inside of the front cover, does that run down through the column or is there another connection under the back side since the connector doesn't seem like it will go through the hole in the back plate? You get my gist!!

It runs through the column and exits under the gas tank.

It's official!



Had an issue with the VIN number not being accessible due to the car not being registered for over 10 years. If you run into a similiar situation, have the DMV clerk type in 'other' in the document number rather than the number on the title. this opens up their archives to pull those VIN numbers up without the clerk having to recreate the title info. As usual had to make 2 trips to get this done but it's done!

Tomorrow's the day.

Heading out to Tony's within the hour. Just dropping it off, he'll check it out on it on Monday. Filled the tank up last night and the fuel gauge finally registered after about 10 minutes and many bumpy roads. Hopefully it is somewhat accurate!! The '57 bug we had when I was a kid had no fuel gauge so there were many days I was under the dash releasing the reserve tank since record keeping didn't seem to be a priority!

Stll have to play with the shifter. Now that I had it out on the road and into 3rd and 4th gear it doesn't like to downshift into 2nd. Back to the instructions.
