Can you elaborate on this? This is my first time with a standard transmission

The other night I pulled out the cutch cable that I thought was going to be broken. Turns out to be in almost perfect condition. Did a lot of research and I think it's my throw out bearing / operating shaft
Tomorrow I'll pull the engine and investigate

Did you check the arm on the clutch fork? Is it just flopping around, or still hard to move fwd? Should be super hard to move fwd with the engine in.
You def heard a ' snap' right? What does the engine sound like when it was running? You heard any ' shit' floating around in the bell housing?
When installing the motor did you replace the throw out fork? Throwout bearing? What clips did you use on it.
Im guessing the TO bearing came loose. If so, you sometimes hear some pretty bad noises when you push the clutch pedal in. Sorry bud.....

Took the engine out on Sunday and found the fork broken. Already got the fork out and have a new fork to put in. Will install it Thursday morning when I get off of work.
Fixed my wheels today. A bunch of clips that hold on the hubcaps broke off.

agreed.... seen many a bent ones. And thats usually from a failed clip. Could have been just a perfect storm event here, where the clip let go, and the bearing was wedged in the perfect spot.... SNAP!

The bus is alive again. Replaced the fork and other parts this morning and was able to take it for a quick test drive

Haven't updated this is awhile.
Scored a rear bumper with the overriders. The front will be matching soon.
Was scheduled to use the bus to bring the bride and brides father to the church for my cousins wedding on 7/8. Only to find out a couple days before that i was having alternator issues and wiring issues. Replaced the Alternator and painted the interior between the headliner and door panels. Was full of surface rust and 50 year old glue. Stripped it and sprayed a couple of layers of white paint.
Also recently installed new shocks. Drives like a totally different bus.
Plan to adjust the valves, sync the cards, and adjust the timing this week
Upcoming plans
-put together and paint front bumper
-strip floors / por-15
-paint new pop out windows and install
-new wiring harness
-Stereo system
Upcoming shows plan on attending
-Terryville
-NYC Traffic Jam
-All Air Cooled gathering
-Transporterfeast

The laundry list never ends, nice to see you're still going on it.
I should be at those shows too... Terryville is a 50/50 I believe I'm already off work - and if so will go. But won't be taking time off for it.
That said I'll definitely be at the others which are already planned for in my vacation time.
Try to make it to Salem for camping pre-Transporterfest. I've been camping in Salem for years - even before the pre show camp event came to town. Salem is easily my favorite place to visit. Tons to see and do, not to mention I love the history. It, with VW buses? It's Awesome.

What day are you going to Salem? Have to see if I can take vacation time for that weekend or mutual off. It's a tough weekend to get off

I usually head up about the Wednesday before. I already out in for my time, I don't recall if I put for Weds or Thurs - I'll have to double check. Either way, I've been going to Salem for years, it is awesome in October and easily one of my favorite - if not my favorite a place to go. Tons to see and do, even beyond the usual holiday antics. Make sure to plan for the drive as there will be traffic and leave yourself plenty of time to explore.
