Put in some time with the bus yesterday. Had to get the bus up on jacks as the front DS and rear PS tires were flat. Turns out both valves are bad. One is torn at the rim. Had these tires less than 4 years with limited mileage so not happy.

The rear hatch lock would not release so had to get access from inside to open it up. Took the lock off and gave it a good cleaning. Forty years of dirt and grime. Got it back into sequence with the external key turn and its back in business.

Worked on the rear lights as had some issues last year so hopefully got that resolved.

Best part was getting the battery connected and after a few pushes on the pedal she turned over on the first crank!! Even found a tiny mouse in the engine compartment who died a lonely death.

Next stop is getting the tires fixed and needs an inspection to make it out to the BBD.

Enjoyed reading through old posts on the bus to see the transformation!

Audrey. Stop by one night or drop the tires off and I can change those stems for you in about 15 minutes if you like.

Thanks for the offer Bill but I brought them back to where I bought them and they replaced the stems free of charge. I'll go through my list of other issues to see what I might need help with!!

Wow, almost a year to the day since my last post.

Got my hands dirty today changing the oil and the gas filter. It's been awhile but got to take care of the basics. Last filter change was July 2015 (always write the date on the case). It's due for an inspection and just renewed the regi. Hope to get some miles on it soon!

HI:

I had a busy bus day today. Took the bus for a cruise on Ocean Pwy and on the return trip had a major blowout. The whole exterior wall of the rear PS tire ripped full circle. Had a late bay passing by on his way to Wantagh Park that stopped to help. Took the spare out and that's when it got interesting. The 5 hole rim pattern was not the same. Had to take the spare and the ripped tire up island and have them switched. Never noticed that the spare rim was different so now I am looking for the correct rim for the spare (not the one with the scalloped edge). Any one have an extra they can part with or trade for the early rim I have?

Also these tires are only at the most 5 years old and not a ton of mileage. Even though they are light truck tires they are not the Hankooks. Are they still the best choice? Are they the RA 08 or RA 18s?

Thanks
:P

PS the guy that stopped was going to an VW picnic. I mentioned BBD this weekend and he was interested. If you see a guy with a sage green bay named Gary, show him a good time. He's from Mastic Beach.
