Even that's a little too much red for me? Something more subtle...

looking good,

Did you use hi temp paint on the calipers? I have some in red from when I did my 65's for you to use next time around.

I did use some black hi temp under the red. If you can spare a baby food jar of the real thing I'll use it next time.

Now that the wonder is running good, I've been spending some time cleaning up the outside. Pumped up, just like a peacock!

Labored with love with the wonder today.

Took off the rear deck lid seal since it is dry and breaking off. Went after that patch of rust that has been staring at me with all the engine work. Got it sanded down, primed and first coat of paint. Needs a ultra sanding and finish coat.

Never saw these on the bug before. Kinda like 'em!

Working on the sharper image for the exterior so went back to getting those slotted fenders for the front ready to be painted. There was quite a bit of pitting on the PS so out came the bondo and sanding block. this time I know to use it! The driver fender just a a dimple over the headlamp so I used a dallop bondo!

Hope to finish it up this week!

Got the rear deck seal done last week and got started on the front one today. Cleaned out the track and went after some of the rust areas inside the upper rim and DS edge with the wire wheel. Lots of rust thru. Will be going the POR 15 route and then some patch and repaint before the new seal goes on.

The paint was really covering up all the rust holes.

Keep that wire wheel out of my hands!!!

After the no start on Wednesday, i got under the car on Thursday and found the problem. The wire to the solenoid was hanging like a banana. The trip back from Flanders must have jiggled it off. Good thing I didn't make a pit stop on the way home!! :o The connector was suffering with "metal anxiety".

Ran a new dedicated wire from the relay to the solenoid and it's back running!! Simple fix.
