Charlie.... good advise buddy. I love that we have all these different people with different levels of expertise in various subjects.

Did you say Brick? Soft vinyl top + old brittle dried up side 'windows' + no brick needed.

lol

got a rack for the hardtop, installed it this morning

Image

not perfect, but perfect for my thing

i didnt want to mar the factory gel coat finish of the hardtop so i made a lil gasket to prevet wear. I was gonna use cardboard to build a gasket, but thats really too ghetto. Even for me.

I think it really compliments the top very nicely. Needs a spare tire mounted, a cooler filled with beer, a shovel and an axe.

it came from cali. Its supposedly a replica of the factory rack, neither of which i have ever seen before. It mounts right on with the factory drilled holes.

You don't get a prize for taking them down first Ken . I just took Mine down Thursday !

Raj the Thing looks tight with that rack I love it ! Weld some tabs on it for a set of fog lights ! And Christmas is right around the corner Raj . Leave the lights up !

Prepping the THING for its journey to the THING FLING!

The wife is gonna roll with me so I tossed in a passenger side seat belt. Its a old school 3 pt belt, manual adjust, bolted to the body and tied into the cage mounts. I'm gonna upgrade/ replace my drivers side lap belt this morning to match.

Are those seat belt mounting tabs lined up for the direction of pull when the seat belt is used.

The one next to the seat looks like it needs to be rotated in a little.

thanks... travelling to NJ with Don in the car with no seatbelt wasnt too big a deal. I figure it might knock sense into him.... but this weekend I'll have some precious cargo. Had to be done.
