Orange Crush

Post by Brown »

I want to introduce you all to my new purchase, Orange Crush! I hope to get this on the raod quickly so i have something to drive to meetings while i continue to work on my other project. Needless to say the body is rough but mechanically it is farily sound (i hope)
Good:
new front calipers and pads
new shoes and brake hardware
new gas tank and sending unit
New carburator (Empi  )
New 009 distributor ( )

I hope to patch it together quickly and cheaply then drive it! Here is a picture on its journey home.

Looks like a POS... so it's perfect for you.

How long before you take it totally apart?

The past few days I've been checking the car out and found the ignition switch was bad but the mechanic for the PO ran three wires into the drivers compartment to hot wire it. After cleaning the connections on all the wires i added a switch to turn the car on and used the wire to the stater to hot wire it. After replacing the starter i did a compression test and got
1 - 120
2 - 120
3 - 90
4 - 90

not consistent but enough to get it running. a found an old dist DVDA and installed it and at first i had no spark so i filed the points and had spark. I dipped the supply line from the fuel pump in my gas can and after priming the carburetor the engine fired up and eventually rand off the gas tank. It needs a good tuneup and timing but it looks like the engine will get me going.

Good progress so far!

Ken... This was one of yours that also ran.

It just had about a 1/4" (.250") of endplay. Hope you have better luck with this one.
