JJs 65 resto mod
Ok here's the plan,
Pan off resto mod.
1835 cc motor
IRS trans converted to swing with super diff
Narrowed adjustable beam with disc brakes
That's the basic plan. I've made progress already, thanks to raj for the tranny core.

Re: JJs 65 resto mod
Sounds like a plan.
Why 1835?
And who's building the engine?

Thanks. It's a lot further along now but I can't figure out how to post pics from photobucket. I'm better with cars than computers. Lol

Re: JJs 65 resto mod
I'll be taking more pictures of where it's at today. But while I'm at it I want to explain why I'm doing this project.
In August I was diagnosed with intestinal cancer. In September I had surgery removing the cancer and 18 inches of my large intestine. On my bucket list was restore a VW from the ground up. I'm 48 and the bug has always been my favorite car since Herbie the love bug when I I was 4. It has been quite the distraction as I've gone without work for 5 months as I recover. I'm glad to report that as of now I am cancer free and hope it stays that way. I also hope to have the entire car done by the end of March.

Nice car John! Not sure I would've torn a nice one like that apart! Lol
You can paste more than 1 pic into each post. I think it's set to allow upto 10.
Welcome!
Will we be seeing you at the meeting tomorrow night?

Your welcome Sir! Glad someone local was able to put that core to good use. Keep in touch with other parts needs.

Re: JJs 65 resto mod
It is a very nice car. Love the OG look of it. Mike.... look at the channels. He's doing the right thing but yanking the body and welding it back up with solid metal. The avg joe would leave it as is, and let the rot continue until it crumbles to nothingness. Shit..... He may even want to not paint it, and roll it as is.ObnoxiousBlue wrote:Nice car John! JJ, this car original paint? What color is it going if you decide to respray?

sorry..... making light of a very serious situation. We try to keep things light over here. Glad your ok. My mom is 2 times survivor, and still staying strong. Its scary stuff, I know. Lives too short for BS that others strive on. That's the genesis behind this club. Glad you found us and looking fwd to seeing the progress on this 65. More imp, glad your felling better.

Looks like you're off to a good start- keep at it!
Glad to read you're ahead of the cancer, digestive issues suck to say the least. I'm 47 & was diagnosed with Crohns in 2012. My hat is off to you for taking this on. It was all I could do to replace my turn signal switch when I wasn't feeling well- and I managed to break the self cancelling feature in the process.

Re: JJs 65 resto mod

Final pictures will be posted of completed weber windows tomorrow. I had to paint the frames and let em dry. It's not a cheap product but I felt it was well worth it as to access my plugs and adjust the dual webers is impossible without them.
Thanks for all the kind words and funny posts. Oncology appointment tomorrow. Should be a hoot. Lol
