Fuel line and other discoveries

So my bugs doing its job, keeping me out of my house away from the drama of 2 and 4 yr old girls. Po installed a new empi carb, it runs well but I was noticing occasional drop of gas on linkage, I plan to rebuild original bocar that is in box of stuff from po. Also wanted to replace some suspect looking fuel line, some original braided and some rubber hoses, I had some German braided stuff but it's to big, guessing 7mm not the 5. I pick up 1/4" and some fi clamps, well 1/4" to big, snugger than woven, i used it but nit comfortable with it, also the clamps were to big, so I'm reusing the old ones.
I just want dependability, not originality, should I look for 3/16, and clamps? Do you guys get this stuff locally, along with a metal filter i can put over trans. Does the German stuff hold up with the alcohol laden fuel we run?
I also learned my vac advance can on dist is no bueno. I ordered pertronix dist with electronic ignition, please don't bash me! Oh and my thermostat is stuck open, hence the accumulation of vasaline under oil cap, nasty looking crap. I suppose the runs around the neighbor hood in the snow never really got it to hot.
Ok thanks for allowing me to vent

I get all my stuff via mail order or I stock up at shows. Try to find an org solex acrb to rebuild.... you'll be happier than the ' slocar'.
also..... i have used worm clamps forever.... but im ready to make the plunge to the band style.

Thanks for advice, does woven stuff deteriorate with the new gas, I had that happen on a boat. I ended up replacing all the line with new marine (read as, bend over and take it) rubber line.
As for carb, I just returned a German solex 34 from a guy on ts. Really nice guy but could not get it to run right, plus he cut the anti diesel valve. He also replated it in zinc chromate, I think that clogged the vac ports. I actually dropped it and brokenoff the arm for return spring, he said no prob return it for a refund, now I'm wondering if the bad vac can had something to do with the stumble! It's hard and or pricey to find a good German one, I'm hoping for 35$ the rebuilt original the car came with will play nice.

When I changed my 6 year old fuel line, I cut it open to inspect.

Looks OK to me.

How much do you need?

I'm just gonna get it from Tony @ GT Imports. You can call him at 516-799-1100 and get it directly. Just mention DVG or me.

I ordered some 5 mm braided line off Internet, thanks so much for offering to grab some. I hope to be able to give someone a hand from here sometime.
