Polly has a new home!
I'll leave the story of her replacement for Andrea (who hinted at it in her Birthday thread)
But, the long story short is on hearing the news of Firefly, I couldn't resist inquiring as to the fate of this 2001 Special Edition. Now, I can hear Glenn grunting from here...
Photos to come once I actually take some!
So, now the 2013 hides in the garage, the Bus is on winter reprieve while I putt around with heat and heated seats!
And, the new plate to keep things uniform around here...
Polly took 2nd one year at Terryville in the New Beetle category (sure there were only 3 cars in the class).....and was in an Indie film (can you say Superstar)...
And yes, my superstar moved out....and I wish Mike 13+ years of happiness with her, as I race around with my GSR named Firefly..
This is sure no ordinary little New Beetle! I LOVE the color, the car is fun to drive and exudes a comfort that my 13 doesn't have.
I'm admittedly terrified of the new car, but it'll be nice when I'm old and Glenn is dead... To say that im the original owner!
I filled the car up the day I got it.. Only just hit 1/4 tank now! WOOT
I love having heat, and heated seats. It's easy to get in, doesn't rip my pants - sorry Peabody - and it damn near glows in the dark!
Of course... They key DOES glow in the dark!
And, not taupe! ISOTOPE!
It's a limited edition. VW has always been known to have silly limited runs. The NB was no different. 2000 saw the Trb "turbinium", 2001 followed the the Isotope, the color concepts came after 2002, along with the CUP, the original S's, before the mark TurboS, and quite a few other SE's.
Both keys were quite worn, and have since both been rebuilt with new transponders and flips, as well as new shells. The car got a bath, but will get a real good polish in the spring when I can spend a day or two on it.
Got a new pebble guard on order, and will replace the fog light soon too.
As for the exploder, it sucked something up in the head while leaving a work a few months ago. I didn't want to deal with it, but my boss said he would pay of his mechanic looked at it. (He's a great guy, eh?) Turned out, something in the head let go and I decided it was time to send the Exploder home to Henry.

Easy there Mike Glenn is going to be a little older in a couple of days.
Still Monkeying Around. Not afraid to tell you how I really feel.
Not too worried. The cars are at the end of the driveway. My parent's Durango first, then the bus, the Beetle is last - at least until they clear the streets. If I do have to go out, I'll take the 4x4 or if needed the bus. It does well in snow.

My bus is warm and cozy at a garage at work for the duration....
