It's with great sadness that I announce the passing of our friend Ed Ryan.
Ed's long battle ended last night and the world is a less kind place without him.
While we will effort to include all details here on the forum, the most up-to-date service information will be posted at:

He had a heart of gold and did his best to collect toys for long island kids so no child was without one.
He had no patience for stupid and called it as he saw it.
Giggity my friend.

Ed was one of the nicest if not the nicest guy I’ve met through the VW scene. Always so even keeled and straight to the point. I will cherish the fond memories camping and doing VW things with Ed. Rest easy my friend.

It was always a pleasure spending time at campouts and vw events with Ed. He will be missed.

We are all so lucky to share so many fond memories to reflect upon with a smile.
Much love to the Ryan family as well as all of the DVG family.

I knew this was going to happen.
I'm watching a YouTube video on the Plymouth duster and reached for my remote to text Ed about it.
Shit. This sucks.

Ever since he was in the hospital, I had a bunch of stupid texts queued up but never sent them.

He was young then....he lacked judgement that he has now, and wasnt aware of 'Stranger Danger'. All my kids now know to watch for the man that comes over in the 'tight shorts'.

Thanks to all that came to support the family.
And special thanks to Mike for taking such good care of our friend.

It was not easy, and no one wants to have a funeral let alone bury a friend - but given the circumstance I’m glad I was the one to do it and would have regretted if it were someone else.
Grateful for everyone’s support not just for Ed, for Carol and the girls, but that you gave me in the last week.

I was talking with Carol and she definitely wants to hang out. Let me give her a couple of days and I'll see what's good for her. Besides Venetian, Gemma's cousin arrives tonight from the Philippines and is staying with us for a month. I'd like to have a BBQ in a few weeks and whomever can make it is more than welcome. Details to follow, I know they're heading to Canada for a week on Saturday, so it'll be after they get back.

I am so sorry to have read this news about Ed. I check on the DVG from time to time as I spent many years hanging with a great group of people and EdnCarol were a big part of the fun. Ed had a generous heart and it made me smile to see the note in his obit to bring unwrapped toys to have donated to the JTF.
My best to y'all. Stay safe and take time to smell the roses!
PS - I would like to send Carol a note. Is the address in Brentwood still the one? Thanks.
Keep working at it and it gets done!!
