Just finished my 4 engine in 3 months and I have Jim Lynch's engine as a short block in my garage. Just waiting for us to get together and finish it.

The 64’s throw out bearing failed back before thanksgiving. I had bought a complete kit with a clutch, bearing, and pressure plate, as well as some other odds and ends like a clutch fork and cables from Wolfsburg West. All went in easily and the car was back on the road in a few days. Shortly after I started to hear a “whine”
from what I can only assume is the bearing again. So I ordered a Sachs bearing - and will likely order a Sachs clutch and pressure plate too and redo the install. Annoying but I should’ve known better when WW sent some off brand kit.

The luggage rack on the camper has cracks in the plastic which have been getting worse over the last few years. GoWesty reproduces the rack once a year and they sell out fast. I bought one this year and will install that and upgrade the hardware and seals come warmer weather.

You gonna wait to March to do the clutch?

Lying on a ice cold concrete floor is not pleasant... when you're old.

Idk about until March, but definitely not doing it while it’s this cold out…
Doing it the first time in late November was better.
I’m annoyed I have to replace it already as it is, and I said so to Wolfsburg West. I was pretty disappointed that they sell this “Classic Line” kit which is frankly garbage, and is known garbage on TheSamba. I always expected better from them.
