anyone know of a good machinist on the island?

Those are stock size and will drop right in.

What sort of machining do you think it needs?

Not machining, measuring the deck height is thousandths of an inch & counting cc's to make an accurate compression ratio

I bought a tool that can measure that small but upon further review I'd rather have a professional do it :?

Dude... save your money that slated for the machine shop for the next motor. Slap on the P&Cs and go with it as is.

If you have an few extra hunny or so, crack the case and get a CW crank and smooth out the bottom end. Or get some nicer flowing heads.

yep it's all torn down, any further would be splitting the case open


I'd really appreciate that what days are good for u? I don't have cylinder shims, wasn't sure which/how many to order

Did it has paper gaskets or silicon bw the case and bottom of barrel?

Did you clean up the heads at all?

If you are using stock P&C's why would you need shims ?

It's always a good idea to check the deck height. But when using 85.5, 87 or 88 cylinders and the case has not been machined, there's no need to do it.

When you cut the case for 90.6, 92 or 94 cylinders, you should check CR.

A 1641 is barely more than stock, so don't expect to do any wheelies.

I spoke to big B today.... the plan/ story is as follows.

His stock motor needed a clutch so he yanked the motor. It also has a rear main seal leaking. He was bored and had some green to spend so we wanted to do the P&Cs. Upon inspection, the heads had the usual valve seat cracks. He knows that crack kills.... so his plan is to get some new heads and reassemble the motor.

We are planning on doing this @ my place one night. If anyone is interested, tech session at my place....

On tap will be going from short block to possibly turnkey ( to the extend he brings the needed parts); we will at least do;
- P&C install
- install new heads
- initial valve adjust
- rear main seal
- install new flywheel and adjust end play.
- clutch/ PP

Depending on the turn out, maybe we can do some other things.

not sure if 1641 are "stock P&Cs" i think they're stock but slightly bored out

i guess peace of mind, i know the case has been split before me, not sure whats been done

guy im ordering my heads from said he needs my deck height to finesse my heads, what should I tell him?

TS says 8.5:1?
