Hooray temps above 20 degrees!

Post by rob711 »

Well tomorrows supposed to be sunny and close to 50. As I was putting my girls to bed, ages 2 and 4. I suggested we work on lady bug car tomorrow. Hopefully I can do my shifter bushings, I'm slowly gathering new parts for my bug, figure I'll do the things I can do in a day, hopefully! Anyone else got vw plans.

Maybe i'll take it for a ride and see how many body panels I can chip the paint off of, how many rock cracks I can get in the windshield and if I can run through some potholes and flatten all 4 tires.

Or maybe i'll just go for a walk instead ;)

The roads are the worse i've ever seen.

A walk would be nice too! As long as I'm not walking to the garage to get a snow shovel and peaking at the rear of my bug!

Well, I did take the bug for a ride!! The wonder turned over on the first crank and took it for a run on OP. Glass intact and rims still round!! Spring fever!!

When I got home I started the bus and got it out into the sun to melt the mohawk of snow it was wearing. It was a tough winter on the driveway.

I have been rocking the bus since yesterday when my Exploder had a lapse of memory and forgot what it's end of the deal was when I turn the key.

Of course, as usual the bus is happy to be out and moving. After work, I had to run my mom's old treadmill over to a friends house who wanted it. I was actually on Deland, Rob!

Had the bus out for a bit today after I put a new battery in it. Have it first in the driveway to take out again tomorrow.

Hey Mike, do you use two batteries in your bus? I was thinking about using the old one as a second and have to look into the wiring of it.

I miss my cars. This weather this weekend is amazing, but I spent yesterday doing an oil change on all the family drivers and rear brakes on my truck. I need to button up a laundry room project If have been working on today.... Hope to escape to the garage for a bit
Bring on spring!

Well I did my shifter bushings yesterday, hardest part was keeping an eye on my helpers! The bug happily climbed over the small mountain of snow in front of garage. I then test drove it to the liquor store! Shifts nice. It was good to be outside. Mike u should've drove by chances I was outside or in garage. I could have used a extra pair of hands for a few minutes.

We recently had this discussion. If you use a starter battery for your aux bat it will get run down pretty quickly and not recover very well after charging. Its recommended to use a deep cycle. Mike's solution was to use 2 optima yellow tops for both. These are dual use batteries. starter and deep cycle.

Glad to read this! My daily drivers and the buggy all have recent batteries, and I recently came to posses a yellow top. As luck would have it, the deep cycle on my camper is dead, so... looks like I'm spared buying a new battery for it come spring!
