Water cooled Vw warranty service.

Post by BusBq Bill »

My 17 alltrack sunroof is leaking. 2 months left of the warranty. Anyone have a dealer to reccomend for service. These cars have major known sunroof leak issues. And the result usually isn't pretty.

VW will just replace the entire sunroof unit. A friend has the same car and they don’t even try to fix them. VW will just ship an entire new module to the dealer for replacement. Your interior will never be the same... expect many squeeks.

Tell Volkswagen you want a complete roof skin and eliminate the sunroof. And of course you want the money back for the sunroof.Sadly the best you can hope for is a buy back.

Dont skin the roof. Replace the sunroof. If you eliminate the sunroof, the convenience module is going to throw a temper tantrum when it doesnt see the motor module or the pinch sensors.
Flashing the computer probably has more dangerous implications than replacing the roof.
I do have two VCDS’ if you need it though Bill.

Thanks mike good opportunity to test out my new welder. Yeah I have Vcds and Odis factory scan tools. Autel and launch will code too. Getting around modules wouldn't be an issue. Appointment next monday hopefully they fix it I'm not counting on it by the history of problems with these cars and sunroofs. Worst case I'll sell it and get a Toyota.

Its just a big girl, and MPG is horrible if your used to a car. Its a 6K lbs vehicle with a 5.7, and 12 inch wide tires.... Nothing worse than any other large SUV or modern muscle if you dont beat on it.

My Bro in law gave me his 04 sentra last year; 70k miles and not a straight panel on it..... so I flip flop bw the two as drivers depending on my mood/ errands/ weather/ parking etc.

Still there. Now they are saying they cant figure out the issue with the heated seat after a week and a half. They claim it's one if the most difficult problems they have encountered. Oh boy. Sounds like they have some real winners at this stealership. So we wait and wait. Pick up a loaner car again today.

Over a month car is still at Atlantic Vw. Seems they like to kiss ass but are not capable of fixing the car. Amazing seems they are useless. I'll Give them another week.

Call the national customer care number.

When I had a bearing problem with my 2016 Subaru, the dealer told me it would be a month before they would have a loaner for me. I called the corporate number and they arranged for the dealership to rent a car and i had it the next day. They then air freighted a replacement transaxle from Japan and I had the car back a week later.

Oh the national care number knows me very well. I Have a buyback claim with them. They cant do anything until the dealer closes out the repair. They are kind of useless too. They basically said I may need to bring it to another dealer. At this point it's not about the moonroof anymore but about the drivers side seat heater. They have been throwing parts at it for weeks. The service advisor kind of implied they dont know what they are doing. It doesnt suprise me,
