She does... I asked her to help me carry it, but she said it was too heavy. The top too.

she's a very petit woman, I can understand.Raj wrote:She does... I asked her to help me carry it, but she said it was too heavy. The top too.
Re: Raj R: 73 181 Refurb
Hard to believe that's the same thing I've seen in the before pictures... What a difference! Did that guy upstate have anything you needed?

Re: Raj R: 73 181 Refurb
Yeah. She def came along way.
The guy upsate has some engine tin, but they are pretty rough and not cheap. This car is by no means a show car, so I can make stuff work with the bug parts. But hey... thanks for the heads up anyway. Good looking out.

I have all the side windows, actually two sets. The set i use is all og and yellowing. I replaced the Drivers side with thin lexan so its clear and you can see out. The others have the THING tint. Yellow and dark. Replacements are big bucks, and this is a low budget build. The windows are fine the way they are.glenn a wrote:That top was a score and a 1/2 . Looks great Raj . I think the top would look better in flat black, but since its an OG top and has the orginal gelcoat finish, I'll leave it white.volksbugusa wrote:raj

The top actually has two hole on each corner to mount a roof rack to it. I'm think of light bar and/ or roof top carrier with spare tire mount/ shovel/ etc.

So a while back a grabbed an OG THING accessory cigar lighter. It fits in the factory drilled hole that currently had a plug in it.
Notice the outlet cover marked with the 181 part number and VW logo ( thing)

The problem in using this in the real world ( today in the US) was it was a weird plug.

I did some research (TS) and found out that what they used back in the day was a Hella made plug used heavily in europe. Mostly on old BMW bikes. I found a guy who made these.

Re: Raj R: 73 181 Refurb
it is weird. There actually a VW part number on the plug that starts with a 2. I wonder if it came in any t2's. 'Two' bad we dont have a resident type 2 expert that could shed some light.
