from what I've read on the samba, I don't even need that for the third brake light I am going to install on my bus...

I dont know what youve read, and Im certainly no expert at third brake light installation. But Id imagine if you use the power lead from the brake lights to activate the third brake light, whenever you use the directional (effectively a single-side activation of the brake light) the third brake light would also flash. Make sense in theory. Id be interested to read what others are doing.

Yes dubstar your bus will need the logic module if you want the third brake light to stay solid.. otherwise you could run a wire from the front and would not have to use a module.. but for $6.95 i think the moudule might be easier...

Re: Home away from Home, on wheels.
Im assuming since the Thing uses the same diameter and style headlights as the baywindows that the trim rings are interchangeable. That brings me to ask, does anyone have or know where I can find, a set of thing headlight grilles? I think they might look kinda cool/mad maxx-ish on the bus. Esp with my kick-ass roo's!
Re: Home away from Home, on wheels.
Are you looking for the wire screens that go over the headlights? They are aftermarket baja style items, not 181.

Re: Home away from Home, on wheels.
Anyone have leads on where I might obtain an ECU (The computer/brains) for the bus? Having some FI issues, and just want to know where I can find one, before being told I need to go hunt one down.

at what point does it become worth it to convert to carbs? I assume at the end of the day - they are more reliable?

Unless it's a total system failure, FI is better than carbs on a Bay.gotboost79 wrote:at what point does it become worth it to convert to carbs? I assume at the end of the day - they are more reliable?

Re: Home away from Home, on wheels.
mike, is that a bosch unit? if so, my '77 has a wiring harness that partially connects to the battery...I had some problems that were directly related to loose and dirty connections there...check and clean, as it may be a simple fix

I agree with glenn, the L-Jetronic fuel injection on a type 4 is very reliable if maintained like any other engine.
