Sunday morning got set up to get the new muffler installed.
Got it all assembled and fit but there was a minor detail. The gaskets that were sent were for a type 4 engine so put the job on hold!!
Checked with a local bus guy and he had them in stock! Got it all done last night. thanks Bill!
The oil cooler has been sitting since Saturday night and it has not leaked a drop. Will run some compressed air through it and see how that proves. the missing breather hose it on and gave the oil bath a cleaning. There were seeds and leaves in the bottom. The oil breather was loose and the filler would ooze when I put in oil so I found there is a threaded collar on the inside that I tightened up. Nice!!
Ran a new hard fuel line through the rear tin The previous one looked like a roller coaster and was beat so I shortened it up and put rubber wrap around it as it goes through the tin.
The 24 hour test on the cooler produced no leaks so today i used the air compressor and could not detect anything so the cooler is back on. I sprayed the seals with the cooper adhesive and hopefully all will be nice and tight. Added on a layer of foam insulation.
I ordered new metal flex hoses and filter bracket from Gene Berg to do the full flow oil filter. The current set up is nasty. I opened the current filter and the oil was black. I'll need to relocate the bracket outside the engine compartment as it should be.
Got a few things coming from WW to finish some loose ends with the engine and then hope to get the install done.
Took the side closet out to put in some shelves and make it more functional. The list continues but I'm happy with the progress.
Got some work done on putting shelves in the closet space. The original wood is a little beat so had to take it easy on getting supports put in. Hope tomorrow the cabinet will be done and i can post up my woodworking skills!!

After all the issues thinking the oil cooler was NG i think I stumbled upon the reason for the oil spray, Seems that the threaded hole in the stand/adapter is stripped. When I tired to snug up the nut it just keeps spinning not allowing the seal to fit tight. I was able to back the stud out with vise grips so need to address this. Stud is a little gnarly now too!
Got the new full flow kit from geneberg but have to remove the moustache bar to get access to the fittings. Don't want a repeat of today's event. Might even have to take the new muffler off as well. why do things once when you can do them twice seems to be my new motto! (Have to remove the oil cooler again!) And had the engine out twice in 2 months.
Took advantage of another day off to work on getting pending items finished. I got the new hoses from gene berg and replaced the dried out blue one with the new steel mesh ones. These are alot shorter so should be much easier to manage.
This full flow has an external filter. The one on the bus was a System 1 that is a reusable filter but is bulky and messy. The new bracket will let me install a disposable filter. Just have to mount it up when the engine is in.
This is the cartridge and mesh filter. Canister threads onto the bracket.
Got the muffler back on, so all that is left is replacing the cooler stand. Looking forward to the engine install to get this back on the road!

Your is really super nice..it has the cooling fins..You went top shelf on the braided Gene Berg supply lines..nothing like them...

Well Saturday brought better results. The nut that was on the oil cooler into the case got stripped when I tried to get it off with everything in place. Short version I had to take off the manifold, boots and tins to get the nut exposed and then I used the angle grinder to cut it off. A 5 cent nut cost me more time and effort, but it was a good lesson in putting all the pieces back into place. Engine is ready to go, new cooler seals and new muffler.
Sunday, I got the rear PS curtain installed and that meant the cabinet could be secured into place with the shelves ready for goodies.

Got the engine back in on Saturday with help from Bill. Had a few hiccups but all worked out fine except for one oops. I got the fuel line finished last night and the full flow filter installed so I tried to get it started. It is cranky but not starting. After a few tries and letting it sit after I pumped the pedal I checked the engine and tried working the throttle. It was catching and not moving easy. I realized that the accelerator tube was getting caught under the cam and remembered I did not put the hose clamp on the rear side of the shroud. Tried to wiggle my way in but it is really tight so I will try to get it from underneath. Any other suggestions?
Not having the full flow in the engine compartment gives it a much cleaner look. I wound up mounting it under the DS tray. I used the ruler from the last setup.
