When I did the headliner not all the cuts were exact so there was some wiggle room as the boards fit into the H channnel. I went to a metal fabricator and had stainless steel strips cut to tighten up and support the edges. Got them in place tonight. Really cleans up the lines and all fits snug. Need to cut up the aluminum to match the shine.

The bus got an upgrade yesterday as I installed some retractable seat belts. The original were dry and very hard to adjust to fit, plus they were so sloppy. Trial run tomorrow!!

You do incredible work! I know of 2 buggies that could use some interior help- interested? (I wish!)

thanks Charlie. Most of my ideas are outside the lines but they usually work (after a lot of frustration and grumbling)!!

Took advantage of some good weather to work on the shocks. They were pretty ugly. Front right was a bear on the upper and had to use lots of elbow grease but got the stud out. The other front were NP.

Much better!!

Moved on to the steering damper and the bushing on that were shot. Got the new one in place.

Thought I could squeak in the rears as the day was still young. Not so lucky in there. The rear top right had the rubber and inner sleeve seized to the stud. Lots of work turning the socket as the impact gun would not fit under the wheel well. The bottom one loosened up.

I think you jinxed me Glenn. I tried to cut away the metal but it is too far gone. Have to buy some new hardware.

Rear left top is back out but the bottom is not budging and I think I will just cut it off behind the nut and use new hardware there are well.

Most of the hard work is done so I am anxious to finish this up and take it for a ride.

Bus is back rolling on all fours, shocks are locked and loaded. Picked up the M12 bolts at Colvin Motors and how nice it is to put on new hardware. Got the rears finished after work.

Once the wheels touched down I started it up to see if there would be any difference. I did not even get 10 feet and I could tell it was a good decision. The usual groan like a old warship once the bus started moving was gone. I rolled down the apron of the driveway and all I heard was ......silence. A short spin around the block made my day!! Can't wait to take it for a cruise this weekend to see how it handles on the open road.

Four new shocks and steering damper off the to-do list!! YEAH....

Today I hesitated before getting the next project done. It was if "I change this it might not work as good as it is so maybe leave it alone".

The project was the sliding door seal. There was no seal on the bottom edge and light and wind cruised through the the large gap. Explains why the bus was so cold in the winter. I decided it was worth the risk so off came the old dry one. I have read how finicky the slider door can be but went for broke.

The new seal (from bus depot) went on easier than expected and seated itself nicely. Got it all fitted and lubed up the door rollers. True test of the project was how would the door open/ close. Gave it its usual pull and it shut tightly. It opens with a good pop and looks so much better.

Looking forward to some toasty toes this year!!

The second anniversary of being a bus owner just passed last week. It has been a fun ride and experience with many good times shared as a bus owner!!

My first visit to check out the new purchase..

This was its maiden voyage out to Riverhead in June 2012 and it was a nice treat to have it showcased in the first annual Bay Pride Calendar for November 2013.
