Dremel

I am checking to see if a Dremel can use a cutting blade to cut through metal. My problem is that the bolt that holds one of the bumper brackets on the bus is sheared off. The bolt was being tightened so it is not rusted. Had just had the bolts out to change the bracket. I tried an easy out but that broke off, no luck. There is a small reveal of the bolt that I want to score to try and use a screwdriver to back it out but the motor mounts are there and an angle grinder won't fit.

Does a Dremel have enough power for something like this? I don't have one so not sure of its capabilities. Or is there another tool that could do this? I'll post a picture to explain my conundrum.

I use my dremel with a cutting wheel on everything I can't get with my grinder. Depends on what you cut, you might go through 4 or 5 cutting wheels but it gets the job done. Great little tool. Go for it.

A dremel will do it, just make sure you get the right cutting discs or you be shooting them all around the room

Save the dremel for model airplanes. This works well from harbor freight. Not as good as air powered but it's got 100 times the power of the dremel and cuts bolts with easE. Have to see if I have the 3 inch clearance. Motor mounts are right underneath the bolt ( not good planning).

Just take it slow and the Dremel will get it done. I used mine to cut some bolts on my utility trailer while my compressor was down, but I over did it and burnt out the speed selector. Take cool down breaks if it's much of a job.

I agree, a Dremel will do it. Take great care to go slow and don't twist the tool or you'll snap the cutting wheels. In a pinch a Dremel with a grinding bit can be used to slowly grind off the head or through a nut/bolt. At the very least taking away enough material to snap the rest off with a good hammer and chisel or decent flat tip screw driver.

Thanks for the offer, but what do I need a bung for?
The goal is to back out the stud and since it is box metal I have no access from the sides or top.

I'll borrow the dremel and get some cutting discs. There is only about 1.5 inches between the motor mount and the bumper bracket support so I'll see it I can make it work!

I use a dremel for delicate jobs, but you will burn through the discs... and they get pricey if bought locally.
