Griffin Green Goblin

Post by JGriffoto »

Starting a thread on my new addition. Picked up a 1976 Westfalia Deluxe out near Princeton, NJ in February with Mike. The previous owner did alot of cosmetic work to it such as reupholstering the seats and cushions. New new poptop tent canvas and tires. Also has a new metallic green paint job.

Brought in to GT for a once over by Tony to check things out. Came back to him to get the electronic distributor changed back to points/condensor and the temp sensor changed for it was running pretty rough. The third visit was a tow in. The bus died on way home from work. Was getting spark so I thought a new fuel pump was in order. Found out it was a loose main electrical connection. Had a bad exhaust leak fixed at the same time. Involved taking it complete system off from the motor and replacing a few studs, new gaskets, etc. The next work performed was this past weekend when Mike gave me a hand replacing a shift link coupler near the rear cone.

Future projects include:
Just ordered a front trailer hitch for my bikes. Plan to install next week.
Koni shocks coming to help smooth out the ride.
Replace windshield rubber
Install a auxiliary battery

Photos of future projects as things happen.....

Glad the ghia was replaced with something else air cooled. Enjoy the ride!

Busy weekend for the bus.

Installed:
1) Jamie Rivers front hitch. Well made and fit without any problems to the tow hooks.

2) New front Koni shocks. Rears are on back order. What a ride difference! The old shocks were shot don't you think....

I replaced all four shocks last year and put new LT tires on the bus. Made a big difference in handling. Good decision.

The old shocks had nothing left to give. Think they were due for an overhaul!!

Keep working at it and it gets done!!

I used Koni. Looks like AOT used KYB from what I can tell.
